Actually this entry should be titled "Kathy vs The Triggerfish" since it is she who stumbled across one.  A Titan Triggerfish is a normally harmless fish until it lays eggs.  Once the eggs are in place the triggerfish goes about attacking anything that comes too close.  They cant kill you, but they can dish out really nasty bites.

I am leaving for the Philippines next week for a SCUBA trip.  Since it is a SCUBA trip I want to take some underwater themed movies with me.  Bohol can be a bit sleepy and is probably more so in the "off season" so I will have to have some time to kill sitting on the porch 10 meters from the beach sipping San Miguel and chain smoking cigarettes.

May I present this video of a sea turtle filming itself.  A member of the coastguard found a camera on a beach near Key West and found this video.  Apparently the scoundrel got hooked to camera and somehow turned it on.  Apparently they were able to find the owners of the camera with hints like a photo of a truck laden with  SCUBA gear that had -- ( Read more... )

I fell off the boat today.  Not normally a big deal but I had my weight belt on, all 5kg of it.  This meant that swimming to the otherside of the boat where the ladder was became an grueling swimming ( Read more... )

Diving, drinking, eating.  Thats what life is here and life  is good.  I have choosen a pretty good dive shop that has a very chill atmosphere.

I have been mostly diving every day.  I had to take a break because I was getting some reverse blockage in my ear.  This means that when I come up my ears were equalizing very slowly and it hurt.  No big ( Read more... )
