project remaster completed: Blood of Me, Writing Notes, odds and ends

Nov 18, 2003 19:17

I'm done remastering. It feels really good.

"Blood of Me" has been cleaned up and slightly revised, "Writing Notes" has been tinkered with one last time (thanks to insightful critical feedback from sdwolfpup a couple of months ago), and "Grace" has been permanently shelved.

As always, vids can be found at heresluck.net.

and I've realized that I should have set the vid aside when I first got frustrated, ... but I went ahead and kludged together something that didn't really work,...

Yes! This happens to me all the time. This is what's happening to me and my Angel ideas right now. Everything is in such flux, and there are so many opportunities for great source material right now, that I can't do a couple of vids that I really want to do--without tearing them apart in six months.

Remastering has really been a study in discipline for me. I've done three of them so far, all for the WOAD DVD. I'm exhausted. So, kudos to you for sticking with it.

It's so hard for me to be patient... but when I manage it, it does pay off. I held off on my Firefly vid because I just couldn't get my head together about it, and now there's going to be DVD source in just a couple weeks.

One of the things that really helped me put "Grace" aside was thinking of what you've written about your own vidding process, the fact that you have vids finished, or almost finished, that will never go public for various reasons. I thought about that, and about sisabet taking down some of her vids, and it was like okay, yes, I have permission to do this if I need to; I am responsible to my own feelings about my work, not to other people's opinions or even my own arbitrary goals. So thank you for that.

"Delta comments." It's just so perfect: accuracy with a side of serious geek. I love it. How could I not use it every chance I get?

Vid! Vid like the wind!

...or, okay, more like a snail who's driving a car very slowly, but still.

Well, I imagine that's quite a whirlwind experience for the snail.

Oh, shoot, I was going to re-download all of your vids, and now Grace is gone.

I understand why you pulled it, but, obsessive completeivist.

I can't wait to see the changes in WN and BoM.

Funny rliz. If you really must have it, let me know and I'll send you the original version. I understand the obsessive completism thing.

Hey, thanks! It *is* prettier, isn't it. Still not DVD quality, but better than it was by a long shot. Man, I can't believe how long I vidded from crap source before getting a clue.

And thanks for commenting on the pacing -- getting rid of some of the slow bits was a definite goal, so it's nice to hear that that worked out.
