project remaster: Glorious #1

Aug 06, 2003 09:00

"Glorious #1" is back up in remastered form at heresluck.net.

This may be the least sentimental of my vids, and yet I have this weird sentimental attachment to it (go figure). It's the vid that prompted my transformation from a feral vidder into one who consciously considers herself part of a larger community: sockkpuppett praised it publicly on Nummy Treat ( ( Read more... )

Oh tinker away hon - that was worth it. Loved the new cuts and the inclusion of Spike and the crossbow. Have to admit it was nice being able to see Buffy clearly through the flames too. What a difference good source makes. This is still one of my favourites.

Spike with the crossbow! I love that shot!

And yeah, isn't the new source great? I watched an early export and realized halfway through that I wasn't squinting through the pixellation. It's a whole new world, man.

I know -- I cracked up when I saw that, and almost commented on it. See? I'm not the only one who thinks so!

Here's something else that will amuse you: I storyboarded a B/A vid this week. It may never get made, but it's been planned. Surely this a sign of the impending apocalypse. I bet there's a coded mention of it in the book of Revelations and everything.

You're excited about a Spike vid, I made an Angel icon... Help! My world's all askew!

Delta means incremental change in a variable? That's so completely perfect. It's just been added to my vidding lexicon. Yay for having knowledgeable people on my friends list!

I've seen a lot of vidders comment that some of the best effects in their vids were unintentional, at least on the conscious level.

Interestingly, this gets less true for me with every vid; as I get better at watching and analyzing vids (including my own), I'm better able to articulate what's working, which allows me to reproduce that effect in a conscious and controlled way in the next project that requires it. I'm finally getting the hang of motion; I think color may be the next frontier.

Of course, I'll no doubt learn something at VividCon next week that I'll still be processing a year from now. Heh.

Oooh, even more beautiful! I'm so glad to see this one. I asked sockkpuppett about the tiny bit of voiceover, since I didn't remember it from before. It's about the only thing that doesn't really work for me. Overall, I still love this vid, and it makes me all nostalgic for pre-Spuffy Spike, when he still had his edge and wore his leather with a cruel sneer. Sigh.

Anyway, you blew me away when you were feral, and as you become increasingly domesticated (heh), you impress me more and more. You just keep getting better.

Did Lum tell you the story of the phantom voiceover? It was this whole big thing -- a bunch of us *heard* that audio every single time we watched the vid even though it wasn't actually there. Some sort of mass delusion. Very strange. I always rather liked it, so I actually kludged it into the new version.

It probably won't go into the VCD version of the vid, though; so I can go ahead and export an Elynross Special™ version without the audio if you want. *g* Random tiny edits on demand!

And thank you very much for your kind comments on this vid and my progression as a vidder; I do think I've been getting better, and it makes me happy when other people confirm it.

As for domesticated -- god forbid, in this or any other sphere. Domestic, yes, in a Butch Cook kind of way. Domesticated, really not. Socialized, maybe. I'd feel okay about that. *g*

Woohoo! My very own special edition! *g* Ultimately, go with what you want, absolutely. And for some reason, there seems to be a number of people who object to the alternative of "domesticated." *g* But you are house-broken! I'm sure of it!

As for being housebroken -- I'm clumsy enough that I do break my house, quite regularly. *g*
