As modified by killabeez:

Post a list of your top five favorite vids you've made, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them, and explain why. This isn't about the BEST vids you've made, but which ones you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.I'm not going to tag anybody; instead I'll just say that I'd love to see any of the vidders I ( Read more... )

Yay, you did it! I was so glad to see you put Window of Opportunity on this list. I watch that vid All the Time. I was really, seriously bummed out to get to the end of my DVDs, and this show is one that still pains me when I think about it cut off before it had a chance to do its thing. That vid is a wonderful antidote to that, and it always makes me feel like Jaye is still out there, living her wacky life.

and at this point I've given up on trying to understand it, or trying to top it, and am just sort of grateful that I survived it.I think, ultimately, it comes down to song choice. I think you did a tremendous amount of extremely successful editing and storytelling with this vid, and a lesser vidder could easily have failed to realize the potential of the song. But, ultimately, I think when a vid comes together like this, it's because the song is the magic and the vidder (mostly) did his or her thing with careful skill, and then got out of the way ( ... )

...and obviously, I am not awake yet, because there are a lot of messy verb tenses in that comment. Oops. Sorry about that!

I second that! I watch WoO and Cat Scan His'try like it's my JOB. (On second thought, if heresluck ever decides she wants a professional vid watcher, um, my application is already filled out.)

Even those vidders who don't have five vids yet (way2busymom, I'm looking at you) could do a version where they explain their favorite things about their vid(s)...

You mean something other than thank god the computer let me export an actual usable avi?

*grins*

I'll try to come up with something, since you asked so nicely.

Yes. *g* At this point, the best thing I can say about some of my early vids is "Well, it's not apocalyptically bad"; which, given some of the vids I was watching at the time, actually counts as an achievement. Heh.

In all seriousness, I would love to hear what you have to say about your vids!

I'm very glad you have New Frontier on this list. It would be incomplete without it!

Did I tell you I watched "Writing Notes" the other day? I was going through my older saved Buffy vids and I came across it. I still love it. And "Atropine"!

Aww, "Writing Notes"! It really was fun to do the DivX version of that one and discover that I still like it.

And "Atropine" -- I am still basically happy with that one, but that's actually the reason it's not on the favorites list; I can't watch it over and over because it breaks my heart.

As for "New Frontier"... I think it's going to be the vid of my heart for a long time to come. Unless the new Firefly vid turns out well, in which case NF may get upstaged, in my heart if not in terms of overall wow factor.

I assume Cat'Scan didn't make it for reasons of being less fannish? I suppose I'd be hard-pressed to squeeze any of those (wonderful choices :D) out for it, but even though I don't have a strong fannish-love reaction to it, I do have to pick my jaw up off the ground every time I finish watching it.

I would definitely class Cat Scan as one of my BEST vids, but I don't love it like I do some of the others -- partly because it's less fannish, yes, and partly because it actually kind of creeps me out, and also because watching it kind of exhausts me. It's really not a vid that I want to watch over and over again. As opposed to New Frontier, which... yeah, I've watched that one on endless loop for way too long at a stretch.
