here we go again
So this morning I was walking to work, as I always do when it's too cold to bike, and I was listening to my iPod, as I always do when I walk, and I was listening to one of my favorite CDs from last year, which is more common than not, and one of the songs, which I have listened to dozens of times without incident, grabbed me and insisted that it wanted to be a Mal vid, which is really not something that happens all that often.
I resisted, which wasn't even all that hard, because although the lyrics are in fact great for Mal the song's not terribly interesting musically and also it's far from my favorite track on that album.
A couple of tracks later ANOTHER song from the same CD grabbed me and insisted that it wanted to be a Mal vid. It is a much better song. I have been singing it in my head all morning and getting more and more fond of it. It's sort of equal parts bitterness, resignation, and hope (with corresponding slide guitar, piano, and string section). And it fits with a hypothesis I've had for a while about where the Mal/Inara relationship would and wouldn't have gone.
I think I'm doomed.
