on the road again

Between my campus interviews and an upcoming conference presentation on Buffy, I am going to be away from home and/or traveling for 13 of the next 21 days. That's 62%, for the statistically-minded among you. As a confirmed homebody, I find these numbers exhausting merely to contemplate ( Read more... )

My thoughts are with you. Enjoy the conference! I hope to have read your paper from last year by the time you get back. (:

Wheeeeeee! I *heart* teacher you! Generally educating your fortunate students.

Go out into the wilderness and ye shall receive visions of students yet to be. At the end of this time, return from thy wanderings and reflect. Thus spake the Gods of Academia. And yea, verily, they looked upon thine offerings of classroom activities and conference presentations and were much pleased.

I forgot to mention breakfast cereals in the offerings. Please emend your monk-transcribed copy of the manuscript. (In different ink with a different hand, so scholars in times to come will note that it is not original. But make it a close match in both cases, so that some bright scholar gets a eureka moment and can write an article about discovering the emendation.)

It appears that I will be going to the same conference as you will, if it's the Southwest/Texas PCA/ACA. I'm in the ACA bit, I believe.

I'm going to gather good food n' drink recs at this week's Happy Hour for you and your students. I hope I'm not out of time on that...also, will you guys be traveling much around the city, or no?

I would love restaurant recs! My colleagues and I are leaving Wednesday morning, so anytime before the 9th and I'll get them. You can post here or email me directly (heresluck at heresluck dot com). I *really* appreciate your help.

I for one will probably not be exploring the city much -- too lazy -- although I'm willing to take a taxi to stellar food. *g* Can't speak for the rest of my panel, though.

Oh, and we'll probably be having a Firefly-watching party in our room, if all goes according to plan. Feel free to join us!

Good luck with interviews and conferences. One day I really will have to get to one of the US conferences and get updates on what happens with popular culture studies.
BTW, I have spent a satisfying January getting through Cate Marvin's book. You were right, I do like it a lot.

I'm so glad you're liking Marvin's poetry! I'll have to see what else I can come up with that might appeal to you...
