rl: it's a party in here! ( owen's bday party ;; forward dated to the 14th )

When you've got Candy's enthusiasm, Elektra's money (and added enthusiasm), and a warm place to celebrate, you really should expect something big.

Although Candy's gone through efforts not to make things too extravagant, she couldn't help but decorate a little. Upon arriving to the house everyone's greeted by the sights of some cheap lanterns Candy ( Read more... )

LIVING ROOM hereafter_candy February 9 2011, 04:57:27 UTC
The first room you see upon entering the house is the living room.

There's a considerable lack of furniture in the house, it is jut a rental after all for this specific event. The inside isn't overly decorated (she didn't want to scare off the birthday boy after are all). There are cool colored balloons on a few lights for some mixed color decoration. As well as a birthday banner hanging on the wall over the door leading out back.

The floor is nice and open for any socialising that might occur! As well as some comfortable chairs placed around the room for sitting and relaxing if necessary. There's a playlist of a variety of music (mostly popular things from 2002 and 2003 since both girls are from that time period) but the music isn't too loud to impair any conversation.

[Here's a Gale. He's just standing in the middle of the living room looking a little bit like a lost sheep right now as he gazes around the room. Nice place. And he's not really used to nice places after living in the Seam. Even after having frequented such places of late.

He has a leather hunting bag around his shoulder too, but it's not full of dead animals or food this time. No, actually there's a gift in there. Yeah, only something small, but he made an effort for you Owen. If only for Candy's sake. He knew she'd like that.]

[Dexter spares a smile for the young man, going to him for a handshake.]

Hey there. Wasn't sure if I'd see you here or not.

Oh, hey! [He greets the man, giving his hand a firm shake and returning that smile.] I wasn't sure if I'd be coming either to be honest, but Candy made sure I did.

How are you doing?

KITCHEN hereafter_candy February 9 2011, 05:01:53 UTC
Here is where the cake waits! There are 27 candles strategically placed amongst the chocolate shavings, and the chocolate plaque reads "Happy 27th Owen! ♥" Candy does plan to light all candles when it's time to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday boy and make him blow them all out.

There are also two tables set up back here as well. The first table houses a number of different foods (mostly hotdogs and hamburgers and chips and the like). Any kind of party food really, Candy made sure to get an assortment for all types of people.

The second table is where Owen's gifts can be left if you brought one!

Sitting on the table, near the corner of it, is a small package with Candy's name on it. And no Owen, you're not allowed to open it without her there.

[Dexter leaves a present wrapped in The Miami-Dade Chronicle or whatever. He doesn't really care if he's there or not when you open it so have a kindle and a $30 Amazon giftcard for it. The card says "Sorry if you already have one. Happy Bday --Dex"]

Well, since the other presents seem to be here, Gale figures he might as well leave his own in the same place. It's small, discreet, barely noticeable even. But its wrapped in brown paper and tied with some string, a card label hanging off that just says: "from Gale"

Open it whenever you like Owen. What you'll find inside is a simple leather cord with a circle of hand-crafted coal at the end. "Owen" has been etched into the face of it.

BAR hereafter_candy February 9 2011, 05:03:23 UTC
Just for Owen. Because he asked for booze.

The bar (on the right) has an assortment of alcohol (candy left the choices to Elektra for this one). Gin, vodka, beer, whiskey, rum, champagne, wine, whatever your heart's desire pretty much.

[It's only polite that a woman get a drink first before she starts to mingle. Don't ask how Joan got there, but she's there. She dressed in a new dress, new heels and even brought a good bottle of booze and drinking glasses.a]

Oh, surprise me. [Cigarette, ready to be lit. 8( oh, no lighter.]

The house opens up to a nice view of the ocean.

The back of the house is decorated with the same lanterns as the front, as well as some light colored furniture to relax on. The door is constantly open to back here, so even if you step outside you can hear the music and the chatter.

The weather is a lovely 65 at the least at night. 70 if you're lucky. It's a nice place to come out and relax on, away from the noise.

[Considering Owen's not much for birthdays, it's a miracle he manages to last as long as he does before he ducks outside for a breather. He'd slink off to the bedroom, but he knows Candy would hunt him out, so at least he's... pretending to be part of the festivities right now?

He's also got a drink in hand, so. There's that. It doesn't look like he's enjoying it much, though, with all that obnoxious thinking he looks to be doing.]

[Ianto ducks out of the party to try and get some fresh air as well. He would hide in the bedroom, but that's awkward, and the night air will be so much more refreshing, so he finds himself on the patio. He stands at the door, sighing for a moment, shutting his eyes and collecting himself. He should probably get going soon. He's got plans for later, after all, and he should probably have at least half an hour to sober up (or to drink more, depending) before Sulu shows up.

He's slightly surprised to find that Owen's out there too, when he opens his eyes, but not really. Quietly, Ianto makes his way over to stand next to Owen, looking out at the ocean and the lights reflected off of it. When he speaks, his voice is soft] Hey.

[Owen had been trying a bit to avoid Ianto and Jack; it wasn't that he wasn't glad to see them, he was... it just. Ianto looked too old, and he knew he wasn't going to get to see the development that got him to this point in his life.

He doesn't look at Ianto when he hears him speak up, though that part of him that wants to talk to Ianto - about the whole thing, the dying and all - really wants him to. He settles for repeating the greeting.] Hey.

BEDROOM hereafter_candy February 9 2011, 05:08:48 UTC
There is a bedroom in the house, though really why would you be there and not at the party?

Understandably people need moments to themselves. Or just want to have a conversation away from prying ears. The room has some basic furniture from the landowners who are renting the house out, but nothing real nice. Really the room serves as a place to get away for a moment.

But don't stay in here too long. Candy will come find anyone that she's deemed as spent too much time on their own and needs to rejoin the party.

[Owen's going to have to go back, soon, and he knows that, but. He's had a bit much to drink, so he's not sure if a worldhop is going to go over so well. And then there's the fact that, no, he doesn't exactly want to leave. Because this could very well be the last time he sees any of these people again in person, and that breaks his heart.

He needs to take a moment to himself, and so he slips away from the waning party to hide in the bedroom, sitting on the foot of the bed and contemplating his latest drink in his hands. He'll probably go after this one - if not home, then around the block a bit until he's sober enough.]

[Candy was playing the part of the hostess for most of the night. Chatting with everyone, making sure they were having a good time and such. She didn't want to put too much pressure on Owen, after all. But when he disappeared for too long she decided it was time to go retrieve him.

After a short time she found him in the bedroom, poking her head in and smiling before coming inside.]

Come on, Owen. It's not that bad. And it'll be over soon so you don't have to hide out in here any longer.

[Owen looks up as Candy comes in, giving her a smile that, while not nearly as happy as it might've been earlier, is still sincere.] It isn't that bad, no. [I just.] ...D'you have a minute? [He should just get it out of the way. It's not like he's got cancer, or anything, and there's no way to stop it, so why leave it for a surprise?]
