An East River walk named for some guy I've never heard of

I went to Lollapalooza on Randall's Island in 1995. Crap, I'm old.

I saw that Wikipedia article, too, and he's definitely the closest match -- but there's no proof the walk was named after him, and it would seem kind of hard to believe unless he had some friends in the Parks Department. Weird.
