Podfic Big Bang 2012 - Cover Art Assignments
So this year has been something of a whirlwind of impressions and flown by ridiculously fast...and I still haven't finished the two major podfic projects from last year. D: Not good.
But cats and free time and health aside, I still love podfics, I still love fandom, and I love being creative, so I signed up to the podficbigbang again this year - but this time just on the art side of things! 5 podfic covers, 10 chapter illustrations and an mp3 to audiobook conversion later, I'm finally finished and ready for a holiday...
Anyhow, drum roll please! I've got cover art to show off and hard-working podficcers to pimp!
Merlin: The Hunt

Artist Notes: I might just possibly be a complete sucker for Beltane Hunt fics, and there aren't anywhere near enough of them in the Merlin fandom, so when I saw this was on the Big Bang list of projects, I may possibly - just possibly! - have squeaked with excitement and stayed up 'til a ridiculous time in the morning so that I could overcome the handicap of being in the wrong timezone and claim it for my project before anyone else had the chance...What do you mean, that's a little obsessive?

Please Save My Earth: Searching for Sanity

Fic Summary: Issei/Jinpachi, NC-17 for [Warnings/Spoilers]parental and societal homophobia, attempted rape and transphobia. In order to find happiness in this life, Issei must first come to terms with who and what he is. An exploration of sexuality and gender identity.
Artist Notes: I've never actually heard of this fandom before this challenge, and I'll freely admit that I'm sure I still have only a hazy overview of what's going on, but I knew I could help on the practical level of putting the audiobook together. Also, I liked the idea of challenging myself to ferret out the essential fandom facts and put together a good cover without any previous knowledge. Ironically, this ended up being easier than one of the other covers I did for a fandom I've been in for more than four years...

Fic Summary: Blackwood/Coward, NC-17 for [Warnings/Spoilers]sex, prostitution and character death. Blackwood survives his last confrontation with Holmes. Coward escapes Parliament. It's time to pick up the pieces.
Artist Notes: This story is not my usual thing - in general, the darker the story, the more assiduously I avoid reading it - but there was something unsettlingly compelling about the writing and its almost tangible sense of impending doom, and I felt an interesting challenge in the question of whether I could convey all (or any!) of that in one cover graphic.

Artist Notes: I think this is probably the biggest single fanart project I've done under any circumstances - I mean, ten chapter graphics on top of the main cover graphic? Massive task! But a fun one, too :).
