(Replying here as this is where I saw it first.) I do assosciate you with uncanonical pairings, so I'm not surprised at your answer. And, mostly, I think fans tend to have certain types of 'ships they always fall for. Well, I do anyway. I don't know all the fandoms, but it strikes me that there are a lot of people who work together being shipped here, even if their relationship isn't played as romantic, so there's a baseline of a common endeavour and maybe respect? Would you say that's true?

And as PTB can get romances on shows horribly wrong, partly becuase they've mistimed it, I do understand the relief from that of taking the unconventional route. Although do you find that it's sparked by a moment in canon rather than coming up with scenarios that explore Character A and B interacting?

As to the first, I had to go back and read over my ships that I listed and they actually all work together. As did Leo and Ainsley (West Wing) and Warrick and Sara and quite a few more. I'm not sure if that says something about a baseline of friendship/respect or if it's just the type of shows I watch? But probably a mix of both ( ... )
