I gotta say that it's pretty nostalgic to see my timeline freak out over the Supernatural universe again.
I don't have a means to watch the show, but I have to admit that I find myself more curious than I thought I would be. And from the promo I've seen leading up to it (and the people behind it), I actually think there are a characters that I'd

i'm still here.... i get notifications from time to time when someone on my list posts!
would it surprise you to know i enjoyed it?
yes, i was skeptical about the bit with John didn't start hunting until the series opener, but i saw a comment somewhere that (paraphrasing) said Jensen, as executive director, knows the world of supernatural, and he's probably got it all planned out.
and then as i said on another forum, there's enough spells, curses, demon deals, and whatnot to erase John's memory just in time for Dean to be born. XD
and i can certainly concur with your #2 way of watching shows, except my case it's crocheting. XD

Hello!
Haha! I use "knit" as a general term. Right now, I AM actually knitting, but usually I'm also corcheting :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, alternate universes, memory spells, angel-mind-wipes... so many things that they could just reset 10 years of John and Mary memories without any issues. Also, you can be like me, and just think of Supernatural as one show S1-S5, and then official fanfiction S6-15, and prequel. The original series retconned so much in the later seasons, that I'm not actually too concerned with the Winchesters going against canon.

see, my swiss cheese memory seems to come in handy when there's 15 seasons of a show.... i forget most of the little things that people get stuck on, and I'm just along for the ride. i don't read into shows, i don't analyze them; i just watch and enjoy them. and that's what I'm doing with this one too. :D

Nothing negative to say about the show. All positive from here, for now.
As for you watching the show, are you able to download the CW app in Canada?? That's how I watch any show on the CW.

Nice!! That's really good to hear!!
I don't like watching things on my phone, so not interested in teh CW app... also, I don't think it works in Canada? We used to be able to watch SPN on Netflix eventually, so maybe the Winchesters will be the same once the season is over. Who knows? I used to just illegally download SPN when I couldn't watch it at my friends house, but since I haven't been watching TV, I'm not sure my pirate sites are still functioning... also, not sure I want to commit. But definitely good to hear that you enjoyed it and it's all positives! Maybe it'll be a little higher on the list of shows to eventually track down and check out :)

Yeah, let me know what Val says, if she still has a source.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Definitely don't let anyone harsh your squee!! I think some people will always be turned off anything that is Supernatural related but not Supernatural, or they're less willing to give alternative-canon a shot, or whatever the show is doing - and that's fine. I have to admit that I'm not that interested in the main JohnxMary romance, but I AM interested in a Supernatural show being set-up as an ensemble show from the jump. SPN always flirted with ensemble in the later seasons, but could never pull it together - I guess because it wasn't originally set up that way, so possibly budgets and writing habits got in the way of diverting too much from the double-lead. Which was fine! But I always wondered what it would be like with a good ensemble.
I'm also interested in The Winchesters because I already know I like Robbie's approach to characters and writing, so I think he could do well with being given the reigns, and it seems Jensen agrees with me!

If/When I get around to watching it, I'll for sure post a little something. It likely won't be as lengthy and detailed as my old SPN reviews, but there will be something there :)

OH HAI THAR! Thought i'd come back to LJ for old times sake! Now obv i am a bit biased about the show, although I hadnt seen the Pilot - only read multiple versions. I loved the look of it, feels like S1/S2 Spn. I think the casting is amazing - they seem to be great indivudally and have good chemistry. Meg as Mary in particular was outstanding. She's a very closed off, slightly mean chacrter and I love that Meg let some lightness peek through. Also it was lovely to roll aorund in all the squee on Twitter! Also you should join yepyepisodes on this here LJ if you need DL links.

Thanks for the tip!
It's great to hear people enjoy it for sure! And seeing the squee on twitter really is nostalgic and fun.

I didn't love it, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd feared from the trailers. I'm still very anxious about the whole premise, but the characters are interesting enough, and it wasn't too painful - I mean I now have a low bar after seasons 14 & 15 so...!
If you do want to sample the pilot yourself, I have it downloaded in Dropbox so you're welcome to check it out via this link

Thanks so much! I'm glad that it wasn't painful at the very least. I know what you mean about the low bar.
I'll try to check it out on the weekend perhaps! If I do, I'll come back here and let you all know my thoughts.
