This week, I'm cat/house-sitting, so I got to watch early with the east-coast - but then I had to make dinner, because I was hungry. BUT! It also means that I have a PVR (That's DVR to you, Americans, and "-box" to you Brits... I don't know what they say in other countries, sorry folks ( Read more... )

The perfection of this episode almost makes me forget the awfulness of the plot holes in 'Taxi Driver'--can we have Robbie Thompson and Ben Edlund write all the rest of the episodes until the end of the show in season 20? Please?

Dean hugging Sam at the end--YES!!!!

PS The line about 'that's why we don't have nice things' is something Jensen actually said to Jared at a con when Jared was talking about being clumsy.

Haha, yeah, Jensen's said that MULTIPLE times at Cons, I've noticed. I'm thinking that it might be something that he says on set... and well, just in LIFE, a lot too. ;)

I'd be down for that. I'm a big fan of Edlund, and Thompson has DEFINITELY grown on me a lot this year. He's quality. That being said, all the episodes are written in collaboration on some level, so everyone has to take a share of the blame when they're bad.

I loved the line about how they argue like a married couple 8>

Haha, I loved that too. It's true. You spend that much time with anyone, you end up sounding like you're married. :P

What a fantastic review/recap. I thought they said Charlie's last name was Milton and I thought "Anna?!" but Middleton makes far more sense.

Re. Charlie knowing the boys had thwarted the Apocalypse? I don't think she needed the books for that; the world is still in one piece. ;)

Again I say, great post!

Haha, good point about the apocalypse. BUT, she also knew about Castiel, and when the boys met Chuck in S4, only S1-S3 had been published. So, at LEAST S4 ended up being published since then.

I'm glad you liked the post! I wasn't sure if it'd be better or worse (entertainment-wise) not working off memory.

To be fair to Kansas (my home state may suck but I do kinda love it a bit cause it is home)we just had a con in Kansas City, but to be fair again we were all pathetically excited about it.
Also unless I have mispronounced it all my life they said Salina wrong. Considering that is my ONLY complaint about this episode I think I can forgive it.
Then the ending happened and I broke down and actually cried. My dad read me The Hobbit and I miss him so much, I was having some serious projection issues with Charlie in this.

Awww, to be fair, I don't know anything about Kansas besides the fact that it's in the middle of the country. :P

It might be one of those things where only "locals" know how to say it right. There's always a town or street or county like that in places. :P

Oh no! :( *hugs*

I think the only thing that got me through that ending was reciting the opening of The Hobbit along with Charlie... although I have to confess that if they'd done what I half expected and played "Into the West" under that, or if Charlie had read any of the passages from LOTR about deaths and farewells, I would have lost it.
Wonderful episode, and all three actors just killed it. Charlie needs to just move into the Batcave now and make it a hobbit hole. And Jensen absolutely positively has GOT to do a WWII drama at some point!

Oh man! I completely forgot about the resemblance of the entrance to the batcave to a hobbit-hole! (or, at least, *I* think it resembles one). Man, I should have mentioned that... CHARLIE NEEDS TO LIVE IN THE HOBBIT-BUNKER!

nd Jensen absolutely positively has GOT to do a WWII drama at some point!

Agreed!
