Quite the episode tonight! So much to talk about, that even before I start, I feel like I've missed half of it.

Oh, and damn right Sam took his burger. I'd have yelled at him through the TV if he didn't. You don't just leave out food like that, especially when it's freshly made and looking delicious, come on now. (Also, I want Dean to grill me food. Or cook me anything, really. Life is no fair. *wibbles*)

Especially since Sam didn't have to drive or anything, no reason he couldn't continue eating on the way.

And I'm extremely tickled that Dean has a Nat King Cole album on his shelf. OH REALLY, DEAN. I SEE YOU THERE. XD (Said album is full of love songs, from the look of them, though I'm interested to investigate further. Uh-huh, Dean. XD XD XD)

Awww, I didn't even notice that. We were too distracted by the Zeppelin album and how there was no way that wasn't a new purchase.

Also, Ellie was cool, and Dean in hipster glasses was too adorable for his own good. And I'm also curious as to the wider applications of those glasses. I mean, this knowledge came from the demon tablet---so presumably if it sees hell hounds, it can see demons too? I mean, does it grant you the kind of vision that Dean has when his deal was coming due?

That's what I'm wondering. They should test them out! (and this isn't just an excuse to have more Winchesters in glasses ;)

Just...this episode knocked the ball clean out of the park. *draws hearts around everything, and blatantly ignores the incoming tragedy that's probably due to hit soon LALALALALALALA CAN'T HEAR ( ... )

Just wanted to add that they actually did give the date of the ep.

Alice said she fell in love with Carl on valentine's day, ten years earlier. And since deals come true in ten years exactly, that means that Carl died on valentine's day as well.

Does it really have to be ten years EXACTLY?!

Because yeah, that doesn't work. Last firm date I had was January 23rd, the episodes between that date and this one cover a span of 25 days, which takes us just a few days past February 14th, like...if I smush them all up together so that the episodes happen back to back it takes me to February 18th - so, yeah... I'll put both dates in the timeline, but I think in my book, the hounds were four days late.

I think if it were valentine's day the day Carl died, they would have made mention of it - which gives me leeway to say that it's ten years, but not necessarily to the day. (Different rules for Dean's deal, obviously, he only got one year anyway.)

I'm pretty sure yes. Hmm, maybe the valentine party ten years ago was set a few days after Valentine?.

Yes. That is now what happened.

As soon as I saw Kevin ticking off the calendar I thought of you :)

:) It is what I do, I suppose. I just wish the show would also think of me from time to time and pay more attention to how many days are passing inside their episodes.

I thought about your dismay at the timing being wrong for Valentine's Day...and clearly in the SPN universe, time is wonky, given that there have been two one-year periods off-screen and yet it's still 2013...so for the wrong number of days to have passed for last night's episode to be on Valentine's Day is clearly not a problem, the extra days are in the same time-warp as the missing years.

After all, if they can ignore two years, what's a few days?

I think you may have to throw your hands up and just go with the dates they give, putting an asterisk to show this was actually impossible.

Yeah, wouldn't be the first time. I had to do that in S4, when Sam said they were hunting off screen for "a month" and it could have only been two weeks at most. :P

And really, when I did the math, I realized that (if this had been in 2015 - the year changes what days LARP takes place over), the timing would have only been off by 4 days - which means that the "two weeks" that pass in the last episode may have just been 10 days... and that's easy enough to explain away.

So, yes, this entry in the timeline will just have a bunch of notes that explain the different ways you can squeeze this thing in. The silly thing is that that we all know they're going to take a break in March... it wouldn't hurt them to bump there episodes up a LITTLE bit in time. But alas, if they can't keep track of whole years, I highly doubt they'll keep track of days. :P

Haha, nice to know others were thinking of me too. I try to put the timelining out of my head when I watch it the first time - but calendars are pretty hard to miss. :P

I think I saw the last day that Kevin crossed off, when he went: holy shit, was Feb 7th. I could be wrong, I have only watched the show twice. hee.

I keep waiting for Dean to say Christo when Ellie was hitting on him ...

In order to save my sanity, I'm not going to pay attention to Kevin's calendar at all. The deals were made around Valentine's day, and that's giving me enough trouble as it is. It would have been fine if they hadn't made the last episode take place over approx. 20 days, but they did, which should have brought us past February 14th by now.

I'm going to assume that Kevin lost track of the date due to over-exhaustion and possibly being out for a day, or more, considering all the pills, headache and strokes he's apparently been dealing with.

Yes, same here. I mean, he had a clock, but if he passed out for 24 hours at any point, he could have lost a day and not noticed.
