[Day 12] Theatre (Free Shift)

Yuuri had set to cleaning the cages along with Armand. The task had been difficult though, and even without someone he knew trapped inside them, Yuuri had found it emotionally trying. Still he'd continued on and forced himself to do the work. There was no doubt within his mind that he would make sure that everyone who was trapped here and those ( Read more... )

The information he'd gained from Eric had been rather interesting to say the least, but it also posed a possible threat as well. He began to wonder just how contagious this vampire virus was to not only other humans, but to all other lifeforms as well. The last thing that he desired was for any of the other prisoners becoming infected with the same virus.

It was a possible problem that he'd simply have to keep an eye on, but not consume his thoughts with. The vampire didn't give him a reason to look on him in suspicion, but that wouldn't mean that he wouldn't be cautious either.

Moving with the others to the theatre room, Tassadar didn't need to do more than glance at the chairs to know he'd be unable to sit in them. He walked by the guards stationed around the walls before moving along the final row of chairs. Standing off to the side, the Protoss warrior wondered just what the warden had in mind.

Whatever use this room had would soon be explained, and so he simply stood off to the side and quietly waited.

Tired and grimy, Armand almost didn't mind missing their lunch. It would likely not be edible. He'd wondered about such a problem when their breakfast had been so generous. He had no idea what they were going to be shown. When he first entered the theater, he thought it might be a play of some sort, but he knew the building didn't have room for a proper backstage.

He found a seat on the side, and spotted Tassadar's large frame in the semi-dark. "Tassadar!" he called.

[OOC: I am so sorry for the pokiness. I may have to call a full hiatus in the next day or so. I'm trying not to do that.]

Tassadar's attention was taken away from his thoughts as he heard his name being called out. Glancing over to the one in question, he instantly sighted Armand and was pleased to see the man still in good health.

'It has been some time, Armand.' The templar happily murmured before he moved to crouch down beside the other prisoner. Whatever this room was for would be explained soon enough. Besides he hardly saw any significance in knowing one way or another.

He observed the other man quietly for a moment before he finally admitted. 'I am pleased to see you well.'

Armand smiled at the welcome. "I am very glad to see you, though I never quite lost track of you. I'm sorry about not speaking with you earlier. I was hoping..." What was he hoping? To hold off speaking to the alien when he was in better spirits? Or had better prospects? Armand wasn't sure anymore. There wasn't any reason to avoid friends in a place like this. So he promised himself not to avoid Tassadar in the future.

"Yuuri has been a handful. I don't suppose you've seen his blond friend around lately?" Alive, he hoped. He didn't want to have the burden of knowing the worst, instead of merely strongly suspecting it. There was a chance one of their friends had dealt with fiery young Wolfram's corpse this morning. He was very tempted to hug the large alien, mostly for not being dead.

Cloud had been surprised by the announcement of 'no lunch' from the warden, mostly because it hadn't happened before. That was a bit of a head scratcher, and it made him glad that he had eaten his breakfast under Aerith's 'stern' guidance. He would be able to make it through to dinner - if they were privileged enough to get it. He wasn't so certain now.

Of course, he was curious as to the 'special event', since they rarely were herded to the library. He also had never been upstairs either, so he was taken aback to know that they had a theatre up there to play movies. He hoped that it was at least a good movie, not like those inspirational retarded attempts to gain bravery in SOLDIER.

He took a seat in the back and folded his hands behind his head as he stared ahead at the screen. He was going to walk out if this was some kind of crappy love story; there had better be some kind of violence! Though, knowing this place, it would be all puppies and rainbows and then have said puppies and rainbows come and kill them in the night hours.

He hadn't done any level of work throughout the previous shift. Besides being far too above such demeaning work, Sephiroth had found himself feeling lightheaded from the extent of his injuries. So he'd stayed off to the side keeping to himself while trying to avoid the notice of the guards ( ... )

More prisoners were filling into the theatre room with some looks of awe that this place was even here. He had felt much the same, which mean that he just went about ignoring the prisoners that were hurrying in to get a good seat as if expecting the movie would be worthwhile. No, most of them were probably going to use the opportunity to scheme and plan for the night time. It was a pretty good idea ( ... )

It was impossible not to see the scowl on Cloud's face as he sat beside the blonde. The fact that he'd locked the blonde within his cell the night before momentarily went over the ex-General's notice as Cloud spoke of Loveless. It was a useless piece of writing, in his opinion, and he couldn't understand how it had become popular in any sense. To each their own, he supposed.

"Even if you had it wouldn't have made the piece any more entertaining," Sephiroth murmured before he caught sight of Cloud's wondering gaze. It wasn't until he heard the question, however, that Cloud's previous displeased expression was explained.

He was hardly going to inform Cloud about the dog bite he'd received. Sephiroth could only imagine the lecture he'd receive for that.

"I managed the feat, yes." Sephiroth muttered. The lights in the room dulled as the prisoners settled themselves in. Moments later the music for the movie began to play as Sephiroth spoke. "Although you should have already been aware of such things after I reopened the connection."

Aerith was overjoyed to be done with the cages. Cleaning them out had been horrifying, and she'd spent most of the time trying desperately not to cry. Hearing about them from Cloud hadn't been the same as seeing what had happened to the people inside. She could only hope that they'd returned home after dying.

The Cetra was more curious than disappointed at the announcement of no lunch. She was suddenly quite glad that she had 'nagged' Cloud to eat and had eaten most of her own breakfast.

Moving into the theater, Aerith looked around curiously before she spotted Yuuri sitting in one of the seats about halfway to the screen. Putting a smile on her face (she didn't want to look unhappy after all), the Ancient walked over and had a seat beside him. "Hi, Yuuri!" She hoped he was in a good mood like yesterday - she could use some happy company.

The small theatre was quickly being filled up, and Yuuri was finding himself rather excited to see just what they would play. The thought that it could be something terrible didn't even occur to the young Maou, but he did wonder if it would be anything like those 'soapies' his Mum sometimes watched... he hoped not since he couldn't understand them half of the time, and the other half the twists and turns with the plot had his jaw hitting the floor.

Aaah he really hoped that it wasn't one like that. He didn't think he could take all that excitement.

Yuuri was snapped out of his wandering thoughts as he heard his name being called. Peering curiously in the direction, his expression instantly brightened as he caught sight of who it was. "Aerith!" He called back excitedly. She looked happy and well, and that was more than enough for Yuuri.

The movie started up just as Aerith slipped into the seat next to Yuuri's right side. She looked up at the screen for a moment, distracted, before quickly turning her attention back to her young friend.

"How are you?" she asked, keeping her voice hushed to let those that wanted to watch the movie do so undisturbed by her.

It was then that she noticed the bite marks on his hand as she looked him over. She winced at the site, her lower lip pouting a bit. "Oh no, did you get hurt last night?" They weren't too serious, but they did look painful.

"Good! And you?" All of his troubles seemed to fade to the back of his mind as he sighted Aerith coming over towards him. It caused a bright smile to highlight his face.

"Aaah this?" Yuuri muttered sheepishly. Reaching up with his injured hand, he rubbed at the back of his head, "Armand and I were just attacked by a bunch of rats, but it's nothing to worry about."

Dropping his hand back down to his side, he smiled in relief as he said, "Thank goodness that you made it through the night safely. Cloud must have done a good job!"

Eric found himself in a much better mood as he made his way to the theater. He was quite certain that he had just spoken to one of the only worthwhile individuals in this entire damn prison, and he may have even earned a bit of his trust. If he could make the large alien an ally, then he would be far better of in this place. In his weakened state, he was not nearly as formidable as he would have been back home, and he would need the aid ( ... )

L was grumbling inwardly about the free shift's event. What a waste of time... watching An Affair to Remember was neither current or relevant. He had tried to get out of it, naturally, but unfortunately, not one of the guards was sympathetic when he collapsed and weakly said that he thought he was allergic to the upholstery in the theater. He'd been carted off to the infirmary, cuffed several times when it was discovered that he had no actual physical symptoms of an allergic reaction, and dragged back to the movie partway through. They set him firmly next to a pale, blond man, handcuffing him firmly to the arm of the seat and leaving.

L tugged softly at the handcuffs, making a soft clinking noise in the otherwise relatively quiet theater. He didn't care one bit what was happening on the screen. He started languidly picking the stuffing out of the seat to his left (not Eric's; the pale man was to his right) and tossing the little fluffy bits carelessly toward the screen.

After a guard had irritatingly 'suggested' that he have a seat, Eric had obliged him, not wanted to draw unnecessary attention from the other guards. He was sitting with his arms crossed over his chest, staring blankly at the screen. He wasn't actually watching it (the movie had been stupid the first time), but just trying to pass the time submerged in his thoughts.

However, his train of inner monologue was broken as someone sat down beside him. The boy was quickly handcuffed to the seat just as quickly as he sat down, and Eric found himself rolling his eyes in response.

The vampire quickly found himself even more irritated as the obviously human boy starting throwing chair stuffing through the air. His eyes flicking over to where the boy was sitting, Eric found herself saying, "Bored?" He didn't really want to have any sort of conversation with the young human, he just wanted him to stop throwing shit by his face.

One reason L had found himself acting out lately was that he was sick and tired of his efforts coming to nothing. He could throw tantrums, he could run or kick or fold himself up and ignore the world, but in the prison of Hell's Gate, nothing could happen to his advantage. Nothing in the intrinsic structure could be successfully manipulated, and nothing could be changed for the better. In the end, there was poking with a stick and getting bitten, and currently, that was L's experiment. Seeing just how much he could poke Hell's Gate before it bit back.

The inmates were like that, too, and it looked like he'd found the point that the blond man to his right would bite at. He paused halfway through tossing a piece of stuffing, staring at the pale inmate questioningly. What sort of question was that? Of course he was bored. "Yes," he responded simply, scratching his head vigorously. It was too dark to see clearly the color of the man's uniform, and so L decided that it couldn't really hurt to ask. Even if the guards despised him, it wasn ( ... )
