That's actually a very good idea. Check for dug up graves and others.... Do you know where the graveyard would be located? Is there more than one?

Do you know if there's a library here? It's bound to have maps of the town. At least, that's where I'd imagine they'd be.

And I'm not sure if I'd want to name him if he already has a name. It seems...impolite to his memory.

Perhaps if he objected strongly enough, he would be compelled to break his silence and tell you the name he prefers.

I'm not entirely sure that I want to, now that I think about it. If he had a name before, it would be disrespectful to name him something else that it took me five minutes to think of.
