Sexuals! Opinions please!

I found this on AVEN: Two possible attitudes of sexual people to sexuality

Are these in any way realistic or unrealistic? Do you, or other sexual people you know, really think this way?

If they are realistic, I'm going to want to dissect you all gibber gratefully in a corner that I don't speak to enough sexuals about personal matters to have ( Read more... )

I don't know anyone that thinks that sex is as described in the "sex is like fire" part. However it is very realistic for a conservative type person. For your average joe, not so much, though they might exhibit some aspects of this way of thinking.

In the "sex is like electricity" section, I do agree with a few points of it but disagree with a lot of others. But regardless of how I think of it, it's also pretty realistic, especially for rebels and freaks to society. With your average joe, again, not so m\uch though they might exhibit some aspects of this way of thinking.

So, moderately realistic. Neither extreme is common, but some aspects of all of them are.

Thanks. Out of interest, what do you think of this view of asexuals by a sexual d00d?

Uh... That seems a bit... uhm.. there's a couple decent points in there, but most of it is just so much hogwash.

As for how you approach sexuality, I guess that's fair. With a bit of.. uh.. va-va-voom thrown in on top :P

I was going to be all "WTF NOONE THINGS LIKE THAT" but hell, what do I know? It started off all Sex is like Fire and I thought "this could be cool" and then I read it and made this face:

>.<

WHUT.

So no. No, I do not think like that.

hahaha that face is totally how my face was going. You can tell that's an asexual totally misunderstanding sexuals and the basic sex drive, which is totally above and beyond anything that makes sense in any real fashion.

Ah, colour me relieved right here.

I mean, I'm very used to the idea that I think differently from the rest of the world in general. But I rather thought, from being exposed to moderate quantities of media stuff all my life, that I knew roughly how real humans (or males, at least, given media bias) think of teh sexx0rs.

I think the "sex is the centre of everything!" view both of those metaphoras take is ridiculous, in the "electricity" case creepily obsessive, but then, I'm weird and afraid of other people.

What if I think sex if like water: ranging sometimes barely noticable still puddles to the occasional mighty waterfall or glacier? Stupid false dichotomies.

I thought the fire view was a little odd but the electricity one is completely opposite to how I think, so I guess I'm more fire. Both writeups seem bizarrely detached for writing about sex, though. It's making my head hurt to consider lust and passion in such unemotional terms.
