Sam Mendes is apparently attached to direct a movie version of Preacher.

I, personally, think this is a pretty bad idea.  The sprawling, far-ranging, episodic nature of the story is one of the things about Preacher that makes it so good; it would have been perfect for an hour-long HBO series.  It can probably be made to work in a feature-length film ( Read more... )

A movie version of Y: The Last Man could totally Lord of the Rings-it for me. But I doubt it. Seriously, I know I'm like the only one in the entire universe who seems to feel this way, but Y sucks dirty, lice-infested monkey balls. Cooper convinced me to read the first three trades, and I fell for it. Oh, read the next one, it gets better. The second was a bit better. The third was worse.

As for Preacher, that's a quality book, even if it's not my kind of thing. And I think a tv series would make a ton of sense.

And I don't know why it triggers this thought, but did you ever see that old Friday the 13th show?

I used to watch the Friday the 13th show every week. It came on right after the Nightmare on Elm Street show. Which, incidentally, was fucking horrible.

The Friday the 13th format would make a pretty good roleplaying game. So would Supernatural, which really, really feels like it's based on an RPG.
