[Chrona has actually taken the time to come out of hiding in her room. She's not sure what to make of the decorated living room, but she seems to like staring out the window at the snow.]

... I-I don't understand what's going on... why is there a weird tree in here...? I don't know how to deal with this...

But... it looks really pretty...

[No response, as Marie is currently rampaging through the town in search of The Perfect Gift for her friend/surrogate daughter/matchmaking target. As the shops are all mysteriously closed for mysterious reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with Christmas and are therefore completely unimportant, Marie instead rifles through her room's jewelry drawer and selects a necklace she thinks might fit Chrona's scrawny malnourished neck.

She lovingly deposits said necklace into a small box, wraps it with decorated paper, leaves for Chrona's house, doubles back, remembers to leave with the box this time, and arrives at the Engarde residence with a beaming smile.]

Merry Christmas, Chrona.

It's a Christmas tree, although why it's there is beyond me.

It's a holiday. You celebrate it by putting up a tree and decorations and giving presents.

It's nice, but it doesn't happen until, well, December. So this is really weird.

Well ... I'd never seen one either until not too long ago. I didn't even know what Christmas was. I didn't really understand it, either. You'll get used to it pretty quickly. Christmas is nice.
