So, I think I'm squeeing in several different intonations, and I don't know if anybody would even bother to have a look at ten different ones for EACH episode, so I think I'm going to just have to squee ( Read more... )

I really wished that they hadn't run the last two episodes together, because the 1940s one was absolutely awesome, and then was buried completely beneath the TOWERING awesomeness of the last episode. It would've been nice to have a week to savour the Captains Jack fully, before being hit with the team all giving it their absolute best in all their crazy dysfuctional sex-obsessed glory.

Torchwood is like some fan looked at the last two series of Who, wrote themselves a cracktastic slashy AU epic centered on Jack and a bunch of OCs and minor characters, and then persuaded the BBC to film it. Which, by a huge coincidence, is EXACTLY what happened. I love RTD for making this, and I love the BBC for letting him, and they are welcome to my license fee ten times over.

(Even if RTD is a big fucking tease, for which he gets NO LOVE AT ALL.)

I feel like the momentum of the first was kinda needed to magnify the awesome of the second episode, though. I could have done without the instantaneous change in tone, it was jarring, but overall, I thought it could have worked well either way, really.

It was even a hit on the piracy side of things, which is a bit alarming but so cool, especiallly if the deal with the BBC and Azureus goes through. Downloading this last night took five hours because there were two thousand people in my fucking torrent swarm ( ... )

My theory is that someone responsible for scheduling is deeply in lust with Captain Jack, and that RTD has promised them that if they'll move Torchwood to BBC2, he'll get Jack naked in the next series. This is why we've been so cruelly teased this series.

That said, the move to BBC2 makes me slightly nervous. Huge audience rating on BBC3 really don't have any guarantee of translating into huge audience ratings on BBC2, and I'm a little surprised that they're moving it.

Don't get me started about the very noticible lack of naked!Jack. If there's one thing I hated more than Gwen's desperate need for BFF-ism, it was the fact that I didn't get to see his ass again.

Wasn't Torchwood on auxiliary rerun on BBC2. I don't know how much you follow that stuff, but it was a pretty solid sleeper hit from the numbers over there. I think the numbers game really helped because the biggest competition it had was this past season of lost on sky One, as I've been told. And quite frankly, I'd rather watch the worst episode of Torchwood any day instead of going in circles with lost again. And there was a time right before it got optioned for a second series that rumors were circulating that RTD wanted it on BBC1, which would have been the kiss of death, I think, for any remote chance of a third series, or even a whole second.

Heh. You're surprised that they're moving it, I'm surprised that it got the second series in the FIRST damn place. Again, another one of those things that would NEVER HAPPEN stateside.

I can't get over my jubulation of the end of that episode. I just...I Can't even get the words to right myself and start talking about it properly. I can't pull it apart because my mind just blanks out in pure unadulterated squee and brain starts coming out my ears.

I love your recaps so much!

My pathetic comments of Captain Jack joy are in no way equal to the interesting points you make.

Sadly, I really am that shallow.

But I really did love both episodes, a lot.

What? You love my recaps? Well, thank you for the complement, but I honestly don't think I'm saying anything very out of the ordinary, just, you know, callin' it like I see it and shit. I mean, yeah, I did just compare a season finale to ordering a pizza, but I suppose it comes with the territory.

And one resounding question keeps coming back over and over again and that is 'why could all thirteen episodes feature jack being so hot and omnisexual?' it's an important question, you know.
