Probably a silly question..

This is probably a silly question but I've been obsessing for the past few days and I want to finally get a definitive answer...

So, like many hedgies, mine LOVES toilet paper tubes. Can't get enough of them. I think that if he could spend his life running around with a tube stuck on his head he'd be set for life.

I take him out every night and play ( Read more... )

What a cute baby!

And I just cut up the tube lengthwise and crack it open a bit so my Dinsdale doesn't get stuck. Although, he has a really annoying habit of leaving his in the water bowl, so I only give him one every once and a while.

It's fine as far as I know, but like the above commenter said, cut it 8) Your baby is adorable!

My hedgie would not play with anything other than her wheel. As soon as I flipped my music on, she would be on her wheel. Usually from nine PM to seven AM XD

Oh, and my Dinsdale loves tiny stuffed animals! Like the small beanie babies you used to be able to get in happy meals? He has a pig, a bunny, and a mouse. He drags them all over! Just be sure to cut off any tags, loose strings, hair... Anything that could potentially be a threat of getting swallowed, or wrapped around the feet of the hedgie.

What the others said. It should be safe if you cut it lengthwise. I'm such a paranoid freak that I even soften the edges so that Hugo won't hurt his eye or something if he ever decides to actually play with his... so far he's only been pushing it away instead of pushing his head into it, so :)

Love the pictures! In that lighting, he looks a lot like our baby boy <3

I ditto the comment about a soft toy (felt is probably best).

I would suggest buying a wider, larger tube so he doesn't get stuck - most petshops will have them and they're not too expensive. I know it seems extravagent to buy something like this, but it will provide him somewhere more comfortable to hide and let you forget your legitimate worries!
