Hello hedgehogs !

I got my 2 year old hedgehog, Naomi, about 2-3 weeks ago through a customer of mine (I make small pet accessories) and she was originally thought to be a male, named shadow (cliche much :P), fed iams kitten food, and was running on a cracked silent spinner which I promptly threw out.

I took some funny pictures of her anointing to beef liver ( Read more... )

She is such a cutiepie!

If her skin isn't normally yellow, and was only yellow after annointing, it was probably from the food. Does she have yellow spots today?

Also, I love that wheel. Do you know what they're called or where to find them? My boyfriend and I want a knew wheel for our piggie because hers is such a PITA to clean.

I'll check if her belly is yellow later! I had to bath her a few times too for being stinky from the previous owner's cage, I don't think she cleaned it for like a month! So it could also be oil glands over reacting? I read up on FLD and it seems the best thing for that is prevention, excercise, and better food. She isn't chubby so it's probably her previous crappy food. Hopefully she'll start looking healthier all around on the good food!

It's a bucket wheel I made! The bearing is a wheel from rollerblades and the plastic/lack of grooves is soo much easier to clean. I didn't even have to clean it today after she ran on it! All the poop just flung off and went in the litterbox in one spot. :)

Having the wheel mounted in a litterbox... why the heck did I never think of that? I'm going to consider it, now.

It's mounted to the cage with the dollar store box under it! I love it, she had no motivation to go into her other litterbox. All the poop flings off the wheel and lands in a pile lol. Then I can just scoop it out and she doesn't poop anywhere else :D
