I was talking to a random guy who showed up from the Edwards campaign about Paul's success, and I think he was right: because Paul has so little media exposure, most people hear only one or two things about him. If they agree, they assume he's a worthwhile and trustworthy candidate, regardless of his belief in a coming North American Union, desire to pull out of the UN, etc., mostly 'cause they never hear about it. They just hear lower taxes, end the war, secure the border.
McCain is a lot like the movie Striptease. I like it a lot in theory and on paper it seems like it has everything I'm looking for, but then for some reason it is a huge letdown in action.

I think you're right though- Ron Paul is the sleeper candidate in this whole thing.
I think he's batshit insane, but his message is getting to people. Take that for what you will about America.
