Now, now. This is why people don't come to Theatre any more. We're too much of snobs. Traditionally, GODot is pronounced goDOT in North America. It always has been that way.

As far as Godot is _____? This might strike your fancy...

Apparently (according to Peter Hall, the original DoDo in London) there was a story of a cyclist in the Tour De France named Godot who was consistently the last cyclist to arrive to the finish line every day. During the performance in France every time they said the line, "We're waiting for Godot!" the house would come down with laughter.

You also have to realize, we saw a version unauthorized by Beckett. Although well researched, Beckett never released the version we saw for production. So, a very rare treat for some. Others, not so much.

At least they didn't do the show in tutus!
