life sucks, and then we die

I am so PISSED about today's discussion.  SO PISSED!!  (and i know it does not help that today is a little-things-going-wrong-that-influence-bigger-things kind of fucking monday) i am just so irritated by the things people talk about or chose to bring up or say is law about absurdism, esp. beckett.  Beckett himself is the law-maker of his text, no scholar can claim to be THE authority.  no student in an absurdism class can claim to know ANYTHING about it!  ABSURDISM RAISES QUESTIONS!  NOT ANSWERS!!!!!!!

and personal pet peeves do not belong in a discussion like that either.  it is not relevent.  who cares if beckett says "Endgame is play" and you cant get past that?  who cares if Godot is ____?  who fucking cares if beckett will not answer that FOR you or even express what it means to beckett himself!  one thing for certain is that if a peeve like that is brought up, it wastes class time.  no one cares.  end game.

saw waiting for godotin vancouver.  i was disappointed.  not extremely, but i thought the ACTF production from colorado was better.  the vancouver folks did not use the beckett silences AT ALL!  or if they did, it was a breath.  didi and gogo were not engaged with one another, the opening moment btwn the two of them (everything before pazzo and lucky) took only 20 minutes!  it was rushed, and the whole point of "waiting" was lost on me.  had i known this production was not going to be worth the $48 canadian dollars i spent on a ticket i would not have gone, and instead nostalgically recall ACTF, the good production of godot. (and they pronounced it wrong in van.  they said goDOT, and not GODot.....which is how the french pronounce it....but that's nit-picky)

all and all, i think absurdism is no longer relevant to today (but will be tomorrow) b/c people are still coming up with answers, and not asking questions.
