I weep for my fandom...

First time I've done something like this, but this fic really irked me.

TITLE: The Price of Rum Which has absolutely nothing to do with the story. But when have titles ever related to the story? Oh, that’s right, in good-fic.

CULPRIT: Lydia NightShade

SUMMARY: Slight AU: No skeletons, curses, or madly in love with Elizabeth. An old enemy of Jack ( ( Read more... )

I think it's the fun of putting the Jack Sparrow Ken doll on top of the Will Turner Ken doll. I don't think personality has anything to do with it, more's the pity.

There exists in this fic the perennial problem that plagues fanfic slash: although it usually stars homosexual adult men, it is largely WRITTEN by heterosexual adolescent girls who don't feel like doing a lot of research--as she stated so elegantly in her author's notes. This means that during the fanfic, one of the homosexual adult male characters invariably gains the personality of a heterosexual adolescent girl in order to fulfill the Suethor's fantasy.

Poor Will.

Wow, good job! Atlantis and Anthony are hilarious. I remember the title of that monstrosity...maybe it was on the GAFF boards at one point. Although it doesn't beat Will the Man-Whore with Crystal Tears, it truly is...a sight to behold. Like the body of a festering, dead horse.

Will's dainty? DAINTY?! *raaaage*

*takes a bow* Thanks! I love playing the two off each other!

There's so much wrong with this that the only way to keep one's sanity is to focus on one particular thing. In my case, all the ship-inaccuracies. Let's not even touch the historical inaccuracies...

"Will the Man-Whore with Crystal Tears" - actually, I think he's that in this one too...only the 'man' part is questionable.

Joy. Sugary-sweet babytalk between grown men. >.< (Okay, yes, it can occasionally work, but not as the main contents of a whole chapter. Four or five exchanges, maybe. That's my tolerance level anyway.)

"Dainty" for some reason made my brain switch Will-Orlado for Paris-Orlando. He qualifies more for the term than Will.

Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Seriously. I have no problem with Will/Jack, but *prods fic* this is not Will/Jack. This is Sueified!Will/Sueified!Jack, and it makes me feel ill >.<

By the way, hi, I'm a nosy parker former lurker. I don't know how I ended up here, but it has something to do with deleterius and train-wreck syndrome. Nice to meet y'all!

When we've got Yaoi between Will and Jack, then it's not SLIGHT AU. It's like calling World War 1 a wee bit violent.
