5. Charlie is not a manwhore. Where did that come from? Is it because he's single? I think it's perfectly okay if he gets around and have muchly enjoyed certain fics where this was the case. I just don't know when that became the common wisdom and it's a little overdone.
I think a large part of that came from the fact we knew so little about him compared to the rest of the Weasleys, and let's face it, dragon-wrangling isn't a job for wimps. Therefore, Charlie is often perceived as uber-masculine. Then when JKR said in a post-DH interview that he never married, it was almost as though she'd given tacit permission to make him the bisexual sex god of the wizarding world. *shrug*
Yeah, that makes sense - though he doesn't necessarily have to be a sex god to be uber-masculine. I ship him with loads of people and love him to bits, but I have to say it's refreshing to see fics where he isn't a sex god.
I don't get the Tonks hate either! I think their romance was poorly handled and kind of depressing in canon; but all the Remus/Tonks hate seems to revolve around hating Tonks, like Remus was an OMG VICTIM of her evil pink hair or something, which is not cool.
Breaking Dawn's release *was* pretty hilarious. Actually, I agree with you on all of those fandom moments -- I especially loved the 800-word challenge set up in HP fandom, to write something of the Marauders in that in-between era before JKR released her snippet.
oh, man. I've always really loved the idea of Harry/Hermione, but never been able to get into the fic or anything. Do you have any recs? :)
I want recs too! The only one I remember is some story that the author removed from wherever it was while it was still a WIP ("12 Days in December", I think?).
I don't think I'll ever read DH again, once she killed Fred I was done, and I haven't turned a page of it since. Maybe before the two movies, but it's going to be pushing it.
I've been watching Days of our Lives recently. Only because I like a show that's on before, and I forget to turn it off, and then it's on, so I watch. It's so embarrassing, but you are so right. I haven't watched in so long, but it's still the same stuff from years ago, just rehashed a little, moving at a snails pace. I did love Bold & the Beautiful though, they stopped airing that here. :(
I agree about Snape. There's never any evidence that he's anything other than nasty. I think JKR's whole point is to prove that good guys don't have to necessarily be nice. There are a lot of jerks in the world, that doesn't make them evil, just unpleasant to be around.
Exactly -- I like that not every good guy was a nice person and I think Snape was a good example of that. When you take away his ornery-ness, you're pretty much not even writing him anymore.
Fighting evil by moonlight. Winning love by daylight. Never running from a real fight, she is the one named S....
Um, I have no idea what you're talking about there. None at all. Tuxedo Mask? Who's that? And no idea about the soap either. I, uh, never watched Days of Our Lives with my friends in elementary school, and I would never catch up on General Hospital once every few months or so.
Heeee, you watched Sailor Moon too! Not going to lie, I watched a few episodes online recently because I was feeling nostalgic. Tuxedo Mask may or may not have been my first cartoon crush. I didn't even realise what a jerk he was to Usagi/Serena at first when he wasn't in his costume. LOL.
