Daydreaming (OTA, gentle nudge Maleficent)

Jun 08, 2015 19:37

Legolas found himself in the park after work. His thoughts had strayed more than once to the lovely fae Maleficent. He reflected on their...friendship? relationship? He wasn't quite sure what to call it--yet. A soft smile curved his lips as he ventured over to the flower seller. What kind should he buy the lady? He wondered.

Maleficent sat up a tree near the edge of the park (her favorite tree, the one with double the usual number of leaves) and people-watched. She spied Legolas as he approached the flower girl... and a tiny, irrational spike of jealousy ran through her, quickly brushed aside.

Still, an impish little smile curled the corner of her lips as she waved some magic his way. One of the laces of his footgear came untied 'on its own.' Smiling to herself, she remained silent and hidden in the tree. She was reasonably certain he'd know who'd done it, but wanted to see how long it would take him to figure out where from.

The elf tripped before reaching the girl selling the bouquets. He laughed softly, catching himself before he fell to the ground. "Where are you my little pixie?" Legolas looked around but could not see the fae woman anywhere. "Are you hiding?" He stepped away from the vendor and began to search through the foliage for her. "I'll find you, Maleficent...sooner or later."

Perhaps a little sooner than later, as the faerie giggled quietly to herself. His good humor at her prank warmed her immeasurably.

A little trail of flowers the color of her eyes sprang into existence between him and her tree. Not close enough together to be obvious, and small enough to force a human to pay a lot of attention to spot them at all.

Of course, him being an elf and a superior bowman, they were probably easier for him to spot, but that, too, was part of the fun. She hoped he'd know it was a clue just for him by the difficulty to spot and follow them.

The elf took note of the unique color of the flowers. He began to follow their trail, but he was no ranger, he did lose track of them once or twice--but he was determined to find Maleficent.

When he caught the trail again it lead him to a dead end...a tree? Her scent was near...but where was she? He looked behind the bushes and around the large trunk of the tree...nothing.

Not too far off, Allison was practicing in the park. She set up a small perimeter so people would know to be careful. There were a small series of targets a distance away and she was using her bow to hit them skillfully.

It was the bow that caught Legolas' eye. He watched to see where the arrow would find it's mark.

Most of them hit their mark, but the last one - a group of boys who were playing lacrosse shouted when they scored a goal. Her eyes darted to them for a moment and she couldn't help think of Scott as her arrow was released and it missed the target completely. She sighed to herself.

"Good form," Complemented the elf. "And distractions seem to get the better of us archers even on our best days." Legolas smiled encouragingly at her.

There was a rather scrappy looking boy with a devilish look to him running through the park at top speed. He had a bag with him that did not seem to match the boy's personality - big, pink, sparkly, and expensive.

As the boy ran, an arrow zipped by and suddenly pinned the fabric of his shirt to a nearby tree. The bow yelped and two more arrows flew at the same time to pin the boy's pants to the tree as well.

Robin approached, clad in leather with a bow in hand and quiver on his back. "If you like the purse that much, you should buy one yourself." Robin plucked the purse from the boy and handed it to an older woman who had caught up with them by now. The woman thanked Robin and slowly walked off.

"Do not let me catch you again. The village gives us enough that we shouldn't have to steal. Agreed?"

The boy nodded and after another moment Robin pulled the arrows from the tree, releasing the boy who scurried off. Robin sighed to himself.

The elf approached the human, "You have talent and skill with a bow." He was definitely impressed not only by how Robin handled the weapon, but how Robin dealt with the boy thief. "I'm Legolas of the Woodland Realm, I am pleased to meet your acquaintance."

Robin turned and gave a nod of his head. "Robin of Locksley. And thank you." Robin's smile was proud, though he couldn't help it. It was a skill he held dear to his heart.

"I do not use it as much as I would like in the village, but it seems on occasion it comes in useful outside of hunting." He said referring to the boy.

Legolas grinned, here seemed a man worthy of a good challenge. "I have a practice range out in the woods if you care to join me in a little sport?"
