Leoben was waiting for her and once he saw her walk in the bakery, he left his spot at the counter, letting someone else take over.

"What?" She hadn't expected the question and then for a moment she worried something was wrong with John, but she knew logically there wasn't. Laura was looking after him for a few hours and she was someone Kyla trusted implicitly.

"Alright, just a moment and then we can go." he waved to the man at the counter and told him he had to take the rest of the day off. It seemed it might be important enough that he should just stay with her after they talked whatever it was.

He walked with Kyla to the door and started walking with her to the park, waiting until she felt comfortable enough to talk.

It felt a little weird walking without the dogs, but Kyla tried to figure out how exactly to tell Leoben. It wasn't like it was hard, but it brought a lot of complicated things up.

It was only when they were in the park, on the path but away from anyone else did she actually talk. She managed to sound more casual and calm than she felt. "So... my dad showed up today."
