Truth be told, George was a little hesitant about getting a job here.  He knew he needed one, knew he couldn't rely on some sort of allowance-it wasn't in him and how his folks raised him, but it was still a little hard to believe that he could (he would) get settled in this place. Everything was so foreign while being so familiar-and so separate ( Read more... )

Leoben was at the cash register when George came in and gave him a friendly smile as he approached, "Hello, may I help you?"

"Yeah actually." This was hardly his first time interviewing for a job, but usually it was less of an interview and more of an 'you know how to clean/bag/wash-there ya go. Hardly an interview, and hardly what looked to be real skill in this place. Still, a job was a job and he was certainly willing to pick up a few things. "You by any chance Leoben?"

He nodded, taking in the man's attire and demeanor, "You're the man who messaged about a job?"

He nodded. "George Luz..sir.." Position or not, he felt better to play safe-the guy didn't look the sort to take bullshit all that easily. "You said come in first thing Monday morning, here I am."

This morning, Laura feels like she's running from place to place. She has to be at the school early, the kids coming in, greeting them all with smiles and talking with some teachers. But as soon as the bell rings, she heads toward the bakery. She has a meeting with a woman who could very well take over the early morning and day to day working of the bakery, with Laura stepping in for major events.

So, when she walks in, she has her glasses on, wearing a skirt, blouse and jacket, and heels. Her intention is to get something ready for her meeting, but she pauses when she sees someone at the counter and smiles. "Can I help you with anything?"

(ooc: I don't have much time during the week to tag, so slow time is love.)

Hello.

The woman has a professional, hurried look that reminds him of the army nurses back home-not the flirting kind, but the sort that looked like they would be on call to hold a patient down for an operation.

Without realizing it, George stood up a little straighter.

"Yeah..eh, yes actually." Smooth one. "My name's George Luz, I heard you were looking in on hiring for the bakery."

"I am," Laura says with another polite smile, extending her hand. "I'm Laura Roslin. You bake?" she asks, getting down to brass tacks.

"Ma had a recipe for Portuguese tarts that I liked to help out with." It was the only way she'd let him snag a few pieces for himself. "but that's it."

He hoped that wasn't an automatic job loss. "But I'm good with people-even if I can't really bake, I'm good at selling."
