Alexis was finishing up one of her rare late shifts at the general store after doing inventory. Grabbing her jacket, she pulled it on while glancing over at Jayne with a small smile. "Are you ready to go

Martin has just finished up at work himself. With the last screenings of the day running at the cinema, the boss isn't needed any longer. Others can close up.
As he nears the general store, someone leaves, heading in the same direction he's going. He doesn't pay the person much attention, lost in his own thoughts, considering films to show at the cinema in a few weeks' time.
The problem is, he's also not paying his steps much attention, stumbling over something in his path and ending up on the floor as he had his hands stuffed into his jacket pockets against the chill. No chance to catch your balance without use of your arms. "Oof!"
So there he is, stretched out on the floor one hand still in his pocket, the other half in, half out, looking puzzled how he ended up there. At least he somehow managed to land facing up, blinking at the stars above. Or maybe it's just him seeing them from the hard impact.
Alexis hears the noise and she jumps with a squeak, twisting about to look at what's behind her just in case she might need to run. One never knows when the village is going to let monsters run free again.
Instead she finds herself looking at a man on the ground, clearly having fallen, and she switches to concerned mode instead of fear.
Martin sits up, rubbing his head. "Uhm, yes... I think so." He blinks up at the young woman. Vision not blurred, that's a good start. "Yes, I'm fine, though I'll probably have a lump on my head pretty soon."
Somehow her squeak has registered on his brain which is still sorting through what happened. "I - I didn't scare you I hope?"
Amy isn't normally considered the creepy type, but she is hurrying behind this girl with something in her hand, and once she's close enough, she finally reaches out to touch the girl's shoulder. "Hey, you dropped this," she says finally, holding out a piece of paper that's folded in half.
(ooc: could be anything, or Amy could be making a mistake. Either way, wanted to tag!)
But Alexis yelps as something touches her, jumping with a flail as she twists about...only to find herself staring at another redhead.
"Ohmigod." She bends down to rest her hands against her knees, struggling to catch her breath before she straightens. "Sorry, you startled me." She looks at the paper, reaching out to take it.
Amy jumps too, eyes wide. "Wow, yeah, sorry 'bout that. I tried calling out earlier, but I don't think you heard me," she says, Scottish accent prominent.
J.L's used to walking quietly in the night and does it without really thinking about it. Night is a danger time back home with the machines that have heat-trackers.
He's out for a walk as he can't sleep for long hours on end and sees Alexis. He changes his direction to intercept her, but doesn't think to call out to her.
Either it's a noise or sensing him but she turns suddenly, seeing just a shadow at first but it's enough to startle her as she lets out a little squeak while jumping back.
"Ohmigod." She presses a hand to her chest, hoping to stop her heart from racing before she lets out a sheepish little laugh. "It's okay, I'm just jumpy."
Dropping her hand, she smiles warmly then. "Though I'm glad it's you scaring me and not something else."
"You know, this place is usually pretty safe, but I still don't like you walking alone after dark."
He stepped away from the wall outside the store and walked side by side with Alexis. After hearing that she was working late tonight, he decided to go out and meet her. She might be 18, but she'll always be Castle's little girl.
Castle drew her close to him. Even though it was short, that still didn't mean something couldn't happen to her. You never knew when this place could be under a zombie attack.
Which was why she had been jumpy until he showed up but then again he'd always had a way of making her feel safe.
"It was okay. We had inventory which is why I had to stay so late." She smiled up at him. "We didn't want to make Zoe and Wash stay late, so Jayne and I took care of it."

"It's not that far of a walk." But she was grateful he was there as she moved to wrap an arm around his waist.
