Dark Thoughts on a Spring Evening (OTA)

Ruby had the Inferno closed down and locked up by 3:30am. It had been a good, busy night, but her dancers were such good workers that cleaning up had taken no time at all. She walked down the streets towards the hotel, but stopped before she got very far at all. She pivoted on her ankle and turned towards the Church and the cemetery. She walked ( Read more... )

Working at a night club meant late nights, and though Ramona was pretty used to it, that didn't mean she wasn't sleepy by the end of her shift. She shuffled her way down the street to make her way back home, yawning and rubbing her eyes, a little worried that if she tried to hop a subspace road she might tumble into the wrong hotel room by mistake, as tired as she was.

Still, tired as she was she didn't just keep walking when she saw a very distraught looking Ruby on the street, turning into one of the bars. "Hey," she called to get her attention, jogging a little to catch up to her. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Ruby started, turned to face the noise, and relaxed when she saw Ramona.

"Oh, hey," she said softly. "Didn't think anyone else was on the streets tonight. Just closed up?"

She knew she was rambling, but talking a lot about nothing was far easier than talking a little about something.

"I've just been thinking. Too restless to go home. Want to have a drink with me?"

"We just closed up. Friday nights are pretty swamped." And since she had tomorrow off she figured delaying the crash into bed wouldn't kill her, and she didn't believe for a second everything was just peachy. "Sure, what the hell, I could go for a beer."

"Yeah, they are for us too. Although Saturdays are worse. It's not in my nature to get worn out, but it does keep me busy - dancing along with managing everything doesn't give me a lot of free time. But I love it. Can't say that I don't."

When Ramona said she'd have a beer Ruby smiled.

"Thanks, great. It'll be nice not to have to drink alone. And you can catch me up on how things are going."
