Will thought he would swing by and see how John was doing. He had gathered that John had been amongst the ranks of the recently ... affected ... by whatever had been going on.

He headed over to where John worked, seeing the man in the doorway.

"Hullo, John. How are you, today?" Will wondered absently if the man still had flowers inside somewhere.

Having seen Will approach, John upnodded. "Hey. Will." And look at that, he remembered his name. "I'm okay," he said, almost honestly. "How are you?"

"I'm well, thanks." Will said. He paused for a moment, figuring that he couldn't very well just ask if John was still feeling so excited about flowers. "So, are they keeping you busy over here?"

Looking toward the shop, then back, John nodded again. "Busy enough, yeah. I think the village makes sure of that, too, you know?" A small smile. "How are you, man? Settling in?"

Rachel was pretty good at minding her own business, but watching John lean against the door frame and people watch, she felt like she should say something to him. She took a break from work to grab a soda, and wandered over to where he stood. "Hey. You all right?"

[Slow time b/c my sister dropped her kids off at my house without any warning (fail), but I really wanted this!]

Kyle wasn't sure what he was going to say to John about it, but he did want to make sure he was okay. A lot of his thoughts were on how John was handling it. He knew how confusing it had been for him when he first heard about it.

He walked down the street, toward McKay's, and noticed John standing there. He sent him a quiet smile. "Hey."

Turning to watch him, eyes narrowed in contemplation, John gave him a small smile. "Hey." Then asked, "you okay? I saw Mom."

"I'm fine." He assured John as he came to a stop by the door, eyes looking him over. "I came to see how you were doing." He was a little disappointed he had missed Sarah, but he didn't say so.

John shrugged again, looking out at the street. Not like he could do anything, could he? "I'm all right. Kate went to the doctor. Did mom rip your heads off?"

Maisie saw the pretty woman as she played with the rest of the day camp in the park. She looked a little sad, which she didn't think was right considering how nice the day was. So she plucked a posy from the ground and walked over to her, holding out the small white flower. "This is for you." Her accent was soft, British, from the London area.

Sarah had watched the girl come up, but somehow was still surprised that she'd spoken, that she'd held out the flower. Slowly, Sarah reached out and took it. "... thanks," she said, with a small smile.

"My mom's favourite flowers are pink, but there's none around here to pick." Since she would have chosen pink to give to Sarah otherwise.

"This one's pretty." The last flowers Sarah had gotten had been from Kyle. Before that? She didn't even remember. "Is your mom here?" She twirled the flower in her hand, bringing it to her nose to sniff.

Derek had seen her leaving McKay's. He didn't really follow her just--observed. So after a while of standing far enough away to be noticed, Derek approached, sitting next to Sarah, letting the quiet settle between them. It wasn't uncomfortable, not really. Because Derek knew they worried about the same things, concerned about the same person. John. Always John.

"A while." Derek sat back, elbows over the back of the bench and looking out at kids playing. There was a pang in his chest about the image that was playing out before him, remembering how he had watched a younger him and a younger Kyle. Innocent. Safe.

"You okay?" About the news, he meant.
