So, she knew. She now knew what everyone had been apparently trying to keep from her. Kate being pregnant, expecting soon. A child for John. Not her John, but a John. Kyle, looking so worried, Derek seeming to be waiting for her to do something stupid, John not even there

Will thought he would swing by and see how John was doing. He had gathered that John had been amongst the ranks of the recently ... affected ... by whatever had been going on.

He headed over to where John worked, seeing the man in the doorway.

"Hullo, John. How are you, today?" Will wondered absently if the man still had flowers inside somewhere.

Having seen Will approach, John upnodded. "Hey. Will." And look at that, he remembered his name. "I'm okay," he said, almost honestly. "How are you?"

"I'm well, thanks." Will said. He paused for a moment, figuring that he couldn't very well just ask if John was still feeling so excited about flowers. "So, are they keeping you busy over here?"

Looking toward the shop, then back, John nodded again. "Busy enough, yeah. I think the village makes sure of that, too, you know?" A small smile. "How are you, man? Settling in?"

"Yeah, looks like I'll be working over at the forge." Will said. "The smith, Joslire, as good as said that a lot of his 'work' tends to just disappear after it's done. I guess this place wants to keep us busy." He smirked. "Maybe this is the secret behind Santa's workshop, and we are some kind of scab elves or some such. So, how is your vase holding up?"

Scab elves. John had to laugh. Especially when he imagined the crap stuff he was fixing being someone's Christmas gift. "Oh, that's ... it's really great. That was awesome that you made that, man. Thanks. I ... uh." He scrubbed at the back of his neck. "Sorry if I was acting weird that day."

"No worries, man." Will said. "I think there was something sort of going around, you know?"

"So, you have that here, too? Work that shows up out of nowhere, and then goes back? I'm not sure how that's going to work for me. I'm a jeweler - so maybe my pieces will just start winking out or something."

"Sometimes, yeah." John shrugged. "You make jewelry, huh? What kinds?" Suddenly, he had an idea.

Will shrugged. "I'm not set up, yet, but pretty much any kind. I've done rings, pendants, bracelets. I worked in my father's shop - back home." He grinned. "Not very manly, but it payed the bills."

"No, that's cool." John wouldn't judge someone for what was manly, not on a long shot. "Are you going to Harry's party?"

"Oh sure, sounds like it will be fun." Will said. "Hopefully the wizards won't get all pissed and start zapping things randomly." He chuckled at the image. "I've not met Aidan yet - I was a little surprised to get the message. I guess Harry told him about how I whined like a girl getting my tattoo, or screamed like one on his broom."

"Harry took you flying?" For some reason, that surprised John, but he wiped his expression clean fast enough. "Just to give you a, uh, head's up, Aidan pretty much looks just like me, so." Yeah, still awkward. "Anyway, yeah, I need to get him something. Harry, I mean."

"Oh yes, he did." Will said. "It was actually a lot of fun, but I was holding on rather firmly."

"You know, it's interesting that you should mention that - someone looking like you, I mean." Will said. "The other day, some young girl ran up to me and was all excited to see me. She was apparently certain that I was some bloke named 'Zac'. I wonder if I've got a double running around here as well."

"Still, that must have been a little weird. Did the two of you freak, when you met each other?"

"He arrived when I was away, so ... he got the brunt of it." In every way.

It was kind of funny. But John shouldn't laugh. Harry loved Aidan, so.

"We didn't freak out, it's just ... weird. So, any idea who Zac is?"

"Not even a little bit." Will said, shrugging. "I don't know. They say everyone has a double, but being here really makes you wonder. At least he isn't another you. How demented would that be?"

"I gather from what James and Draco have told me that having people from different times here can be very strange. If my father shows up as a teenager, I have no idea how I'd handle it."

"No, it's definitely weird." John thought of Allison, Marcus. And Kate. "Sometimes they know a different you, or ... don't know you at all." He shrugged. "It's ... complicated."
