Honest Mistake

The world seemed to stand still at that very moment. God, for whatever reason, decided today was the day he would forsake him. He didn’t mean for the snowball to hit the young woman. He valued his life a little more than to do something like that intentionally.

“It wasn’t my fault!” he exclaimed, hands shooting up in surrender to appear as innocent as possibly. Clark wasn’t making things any better by laughing at the whole situation and from the looks of it; Lana looked just about to laugh out loud herself.

Zatanna’s brow rose, a head reaching up to brush off the snow from her hair and her face. “Not your fault? Than whose? Clark’s?” her hand thrusted out forwards to point at the other man.

Oliver offered one of his most charming smiles, “Well if the shoe fits…”

“Don’t go blaming this on me, Queen!” Clark retorted from behind him.

Lana couldn’t seem to contain herself any more, soft giggling escaping her as she tried to remove the excess snow from Zatanna’s body.

“Oliver…” the warning in her voice made his smile falter for a moment.

“What? Really Z I was aiming for Clark,” not really. He had been aiming for Lana, just for kicks, but he wasn’t going to tell the girls that.

Her brow ticked up just a margin more and before he knew it, Oliver had stepped back into Clark’s arms. The pair watching in both fear and fascination as that cat-ate-the-canary-grin appeared on the magician’s lips.

“How about I show you a little trick?”

“Zatanna, sweetie, the boys look they learned their lessons. We should get inside, warm up and put away the rest of the groceries” Lana tried to tug the taller brunette away to no avail.

The magician’s lips curled up wickedly, “Just one little trip before you go in, than we can send the boys back out for the things we just lost.” Before Lana or anyone else could utter a word, Zatanna had her wand in her hand, pointed at the two young men.

“Wons os erup, rovoc eseht syob morf deah ot eot,” in a flash snow rose from the ground hurling towards the pair. Clark released Oliver, leaving the blonde to face the wrath of Zatanna on his own.

“Traitor!” Oliver cried, not quick enough to dodge the attack, finding himself encased in snow, looking more like a snowman than anything else.

Satisfied with herself, Zatanna approached the blonde, leaning forward to meet his eyes, “What have we learned?”

Already he could feel himself freezing, “Too be more careful of where I throw?”

She beamed, kissing his colds lips before she straightened herself, “Good boy,” with a quick pat on the head; she turned a warning glare to Clark before returning to Lana’s side.

“Wait! You can’t leave me here,” Oliver chattered, just hearing Lana saying a few words in his defense.

Zatanna laughed, looking over her shoulder at the boys, “Just a few more minutes.”

Oliver shook his head, turning pleading eyes to Clark. Clark quickly shook his head, “better you than me,” he teased.

“Liar! You can tolerate the cold better. I’m going to freeze.”

Clark shrugged sheepishly, “I don’t want to get on her bad side. Not so close to Christmas.”

Oliver muttered another ‘traitor’ under his breath, praying Lana could quickly change the magician’s mind. Who would have thought a little snowball could lead him in so much trouble.
