Jack had his post but he was also able to slip away to go check on Sam, letting his unit know he'd return. He was giving everyone a chance to check on loved ones if needed and he'd wait until last. Once it was his go he made sure he was loaded up and made his way towards the hotel, praying against all odds that's where Sam was

While Sam had done a pretty good job of staying in the hotel since this whole mess began, she worried about Jack and just prayed that he was okay. She and Diesel enjoyed spending some time with Elizabeth and her dog Satchmo but once the sirens sounded again, she headed back to her room thinking maybe things were over.

It wasn't over, just worse and Whiskey was hiding under the bed again. Sam was glued to the patio doors and even had the door open so she could hear things since she couldn't see in the complete darkness. She was content to stay put until she heard someone crying out for help, just outside the hotel.

She couldn't just leave them out there so she grabbed a bigger flashlight, her phone and knife still on her belt. She pulled on a jacket and headed out into the darkness, flashlight in one hand and her Glock 9mil in the other, toward the sound of the voice.

Jack was making his way there with Scarlet at his back. SHe seemed just as stubborn as he was. He saw Sam step out into the darkness and walk off after something and muttered. "Dammit Sam..."

Sam didn't know Jack was there when she walked off toward the voice she'd heard. She could see and hear things moving around and when she turned, there was some sort of 'thing' following her. It didn't seem to be after her, just following her. It resembled a person but that vibrating, twitching head was enough to have her putting two bullets into it until fell silent. She looked it over a moment before continuing on, not knowing those were the tamer of the monsters out that night.

Jack heard the gunshots and that was all he needed, he took off in Sam's direction. He didn't call out for her not wanting to alert anything to his or her existence more than already done.

Sam shined her flashlight behind her, looking for more monsters. Now that they were out, most of the fog had gone away. She could still hear someone calling out for help and went back to looking for them. Just when she was wondering if there were any more of those human looking creatures out there, she found another coming toward her and she shot a couple rounds into it, too.

When she didn't hear the voice calling for help anymore, she called out into the darkness. "Hello? Is anybody out there?"

Jack was coming up behind her, but moved slowly not wanting to startle her. He spoke her name softly. "Sam."

She'd recognize that voice anywhere and she spun around, coming face to face with him. "Jack..." She moved closer to him. "There was somebody out here yelling for help but I don't hear them now."

[manwiththegun]

"I asked you to stay inside where it was safe. Do you have any idea what you getting hurt would do to me?" He frowned and looked around, before shooting another that was coming their way.

[girlwththeshots]

He knew just what to say to get to her and she sighed, "But I heard somebody calling for help. I thought maybe I should try to help them." She didn't tell him the only reason she heard them is because she had the patio door open.

"I only see these things right now." He looked at her and sighed. "Let's get you back to the hotel."

"And I don't hear them anymore." She bit her lip as she wondered why they stopped calling for help. She really didn't like being out there and she nodded her head. "Okay. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come out."

[manwiththegun]

"Might have been a trick to lure people out." He wasn't very trusting of things at the moment and looked at her when she apologized. His face softened a little. "I just wanted to check on you and Whiskey."

[girlwththeshots]

She hadn't thought of that and she never saw anybody around. Maybe it was a trick or maybe somebody else helped them. "He's under the bed again. Whatever's going on makes him nervous."

[manwiththegun]

"it's that extra sense animals have. He senses something we can't." He motioned for Scarlett to keep watch as he escorted Sam to the hotel.

"Maybe he'll come out and get in bed with me." There wasn't much else to do with no electricity. She was just glad they had plenty of candles. "When do you get to come home?"

"As soon as everyone is safe." He kissed her softly.
