After the previous day's disastrous reunion with his mother, Draco was feeling a lot like a dirty rag in the gutter. However, there was nothing like meddling (well, not technically meddling since he had permission from Meg) in other people's lives to provide a way to ignore the shit storm in your own. That was what Draco believed and so he was ( Read more... )

Enter one very large, potentially imposing man who only managed to not be frightening looking because of the smile on his face and the jeans very liberally smeared in what probably looked like mud but was in reality potters clay. Honestly he could be one of the Weasley brothers in a pinch, with his long red hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Destruction ordered his usual large black coffee and an assortment of pastries before moving into the sitting area and scanning for a table.

"Sight unseen?" He arched a brow, amused and obviously so. "Is this an interview?"

Draco grinned. "Now you're catching on. Are you up for it?"

"I suppose, but how do you know I'll suit?"

"That's what the interview is for," Draco replied. "I ask you questions, decide if I like you, and rank you amongst the other men when I present your profile. From there, the lady picks who she wants to go on a date with."

You would think he did this often.

"Sight unseen? Or is there a ranking for my appearance as well?" He was game enough, though he should probably explain tot he boy that it was forbidden for his kind to fall in love with a mortal.

"She's not a horse, if that's what you're asking," Draco said with a laugh. "Yes, I rank your appearance, but I provide details as well. Appearance is not the leading factor here; by not providing photos to either party, you're on equal footing, and assumption free."

He wasn't sure what horses had to do with it, if she was a horse... well he could be a horse. No doubt a large russet maned war horse.

"Alright, ask away. I'm game."

"Fantastic," Draco said, and wrote Joe's name at the top of the paper. He didn't add a last name since one wasn't given.

"How do you feel about dating young women? I am particularly interest because I got the impression that age has no meaning to you personally. Meg, the woman in question, is twenty years old."

"Age does not always mean wisdom, and when you are as old as I everyone is young. With the exception of my three elder siblings."

"You sound like an Elf I know," Draco said with a grin. "Meg is from Paris, France, a country on Earth. Timewise, the late 1800s. Where and when are you from, Joe?"

"Everywhere, nowhere. I have my own realm, though I have not spent any time there recently. For the last some hundred years I've been in Greece. I am familiar with both the city and the era Meg is from." It was not much of an answer.

No, but it was a fascinating one.

"Can you access your realm from here?" Draco asked. It sounded as if he could, which made Joe a very unique member of the village.

"The edges of it, when it leaks into this place I can feel it. But I cannot use it to leave." He was waiting for the other man to ask what his realm was but then may people didn't hear realm and think in terms of absolutes.

That was what Draco was thinking, and didn't ask further questions on it.

"Still stuck here like the rest of us then," Draco said with a grin. "Fortunate for Meg, I suppose. What do you do in the village, Joe? Are you employed, do you volunteer anywhere, take classes at one of the schools...?"

"I teach art at the preparatory school," an odd fit perhaps but he enjoyed it.

"I have learned a great deal in my long life, I posses the gift of knowledge but I lack artistry the flair for creation that is required to make great art. So I teach."
