Worried [OTA]

Rose was freaking. Every day she made sure that the Doctor was safe. Sometimes he grumbled with her watching him but she didn't care. Then he went missing along with his TARDIS. She hoped that it was a learning lesson thing and he was safe. If the other Doctor, the Tenth, was himself she could ask him since it'd be his memories but he was still ( Read more... )

Peter was at the counter, ordering his ritual mid-day coffee when he spotted Rose sitting with some fries. She had the classic signs of worry, including the greasy food part, which was why once Peter got his coffee he made his way over to her table instead of the door. Slipping into the seat across from her, he glanced at the fries, then at Rose. "And here I thought you said you were a connoisseur of the potato."

Rose smiled when Peter joined him, a chip half way to her lips. "Yeah, I am. But they don't have the good kind here. What can you do? How've you been? Good?"

"Been alright." Peter nodded in response to her question with a faint smile. "Guess you haven't tried ordering fries at the new pub, have you?"

Her eyes lit up at that information. "There's a new pub? I didn't see it. Right then." She glanced down at the chips on the table and back at Peter. "You doing anything now? Feel like giving it a go?"

Peter smiled widely. "I never say no to an adventure that includes fries and good company." He stood and offered his hand. "Shall we?"

"Definitely." She slipped her hand in his trying not to think about how different it was from the Doctor's. "Keepin' out of trouble?" Rose asked as she stood and left the chips on the table.

"Sadly yes. It seems there's not a lot of ways to get into trouble unless you associate yourself with comic book villians and sadly I haven't been acquainted with any yet." He smiled wryly at Rose as he pushed through the cafe doors, having left his coffee on the table along with her chips. "What about you?"

Rose snickered. "Either that or aliens." Her alien got into a lot of trouble. Not that she did or anything, just him.

"I've been good. Haven't been hit with laughing gas which is a good thing. That water thing was bad enough." She made a face. "Mind you, I've embarrassed myself in public before but it's usually after the fun of lifting a few pints."

Peter smiled with amusement. "Been there, done that. Part of the fun, though the morning after is always a bit of a downer." Though Peter had learned quickly the different ways to combat hangovers effectively. "I guess I should be thankful I wasn't hit by either of those things.. or maybe more grateful Walter wasn't."

"Mum has the best hangover remedy. Works every time." Rose confessed. She'd used it herself quite a few times. "Just not with eggs." She shuddered at that particular memory.

"Who's Walter? A mate from your world?"

He laughed. "Eggs and hangovers are definitely a lethal combination." Although he had seen some of the college kids at MIT do it successfully, but Peter suspected there were more chemicals in them than the average chicken egg.

"Mate?" He glanced at Rose, smiling with amusement as he reached out for the door to the Black Sheep Inn and held it open for her. "Walter's my father and all around pain-in-my-butt." Some would say he said that with fondness, though Peter would never admit it.

Rose stepped inside, her laughter floating behind her. "Oh God. I thought I was the only one that had a parent show up. My mum." She turned around to face Peter. "Top this one, mate. My mum shows up 8 months pregnant by my father from an alternate reality."

He laughed. "Okay, that's pretty messed up." He nodded in agreement as he held a chair for her before sitting down himself. He seemed to pause, as if seriously considering topping her. "I don't have any solid proof, but I'm fairly certain my father's responsible for developing the telekinetic abilities in a handful of people at a very early age." It might sound like he was kidding, but he was telling the truth.

"Seriously?" She looked over at him. "Like with experiments and things? Or did he teach them how to develop what they already had?"

Honestly, Rose was envious. She always thought psychic abilities would be nice. Not really seeing the future that would be horrible, but telekinetic ability. Call the remote to you when you were too lazy to get up and get it. That was a right good talent to have.

"Unfortunately he's not anything like Professor Xavier." Which meant it was the first option with experimenting, though his analogy would only work if Rose knew the X-Men. Peter gave a small smile. "But he's relatively harmless now." Even if he did keep Peter up reciting chemical formulas all night.

Rose was well acquainted with some pop culture and luckily knew the Xmen so she got the reference.

"Getting psychic abilities isn't so bad." She thought about it. "I mean it could have been worse, yeah? He could have turned people into robots. Is that what he does, then? A scientist?"
