Keeping ego in check

To keep my ego in check, I shall dissociate praise or critisim from who I am. I shall credit it to the ideas rather than take ownership of it personally. I included praise in there, too, because if I let it define me too much, my ego will inflate. And if my ego inflates, the only good it does is to be defensive and self absorbed. Being able to keep your ego in check is rather admirable. I'm also sure that being able to pursue that is rare. It's kind of like Maslow's idea of achieving self-actualization, yeah? Once we achieve our basic bilogical needs, and then self-esteem, we can attempt to achieve self-actualization. Although, that sort of thing seems difficult because of society and other factors. It's too bad people aren't more intuitive about their own selves.

Keep doing what you're doing and you'll continue growing as a strong individual. =)

Yeah, it seems rather difficult to achieve and at times, I keep thinking that I'm contradicting myself. Then I contemplate on how I can parallel my ideals with my behavior/thoughts/feelings so I can truly get that way. But most of all, I just want the mentality of believing everyone (including non-humans) is equal/worth it no matter what they (don't) do. I feel that I will be most at peace if I were to think that way.
