First things first.  It was 101 degrees today, with a heat index of 104.  Frankly, after 100, I just think we should quit measuring and say "hell-hot."  Apparently it will be hell-hot again tomorrow.  And there was much rejoicing....yay.  We will have a cold snap this weekend, and it will only be in the low 90's.  Drag out the parka.

Tonight I got a call from my friend Tara whose husband was in Iraq with Bill.  She called to tell me that one of the members of Troop F who was in Iraq for a second tour of duty had been killed by an enemy sniper.  It happened early this morning, which would have been early afternoon Iraqi time.  I did not know the soldier well, but whenever I saw ( Read more... )

Bill left a o'dark early this morning for 2 weeks of Annual Traning in beautiful Camp Shelby, MS.  Apparently hell has frozen over since he said that would be the next time he went to Shelby after coming back there from his deployment.  Perhaps we will learn more about upcoming deployment rumors while he is there.  Or maybe we won't.  The Army is ( Read more... )
