I'm sorry to hear things are tough there. I like your list of positives! I detest a lot of advice that is given in self-help books, but I think noticing and being grateful for the little things in life does actually work to help us feel better in the long term.

I will take the opportunity to add my own list, thank you!

1) I gave up eating things that have added sugar in, for Lent, and it's been 3 weeks now (I started early). I feel less up and down and I have lost a few pounds.

2) My eldest just picked the things he wants to do for his birthday next month, and I think they are so funny and interesting! He wants to go to an art show, eat sushi and buy some new lego :D I am really looking forward to doing it with him.

3) I'm really enjoying the HDOTP comment fest (sorry no links as on phone). The great art and ficlets over there have made me very happy this weekend!

I hope this week goes better for you.

Good for you about avoiding sugar for 3 weeks already. I usually manage that for about half an hour but I keep meaning to be better at it! Your boy's wish list is very cute and sounds doable. I hope you have a great time together. You've reminded me of another nice thing: tomorrow I am going on a school trip to a Van Gogh museum, so I'll get to see some fab artwork and share it with the children I teach.

Thanks for the comment. Hearing other peoples' nice things is also good.

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear things have been rough on you.

I've been sick, I arrived sick from vacations and was doing better but yesterday and today have been not so good, back with fever again, but there are things that make me happy.

The meme at hdotp is awesome, there's lovely art and drabbles that are amazing fun. hd_remix is posting and there are great submissions. :)

Thanks. Things aren't too bad (like I said I am lucky in the scheme of things, but it's too easy to let the negatives take over.) and seeing another person's happy things is also really nice. I've been enjoying some of the hd remix pieces this evening. Will have to check out hdotp's meme too.

I'm sorry you've been unwell - especially on holiday too. I hope today and yesterday was a blip and that you get back onto the road to recovery.

The listing positive things really does work! Sometimes with everything else going on it's hard to take the time to stop and focus on all the little things that make us happy. I'll go ahead and throw in a few of my own. :)

1. I just spent a couple of days at home with my parents and brother. They're all really great people and I'm so lucky to have them.
2. Hanging out with my best friend, who's planning her wedding, and I'm helping out with things. She's wonderful as well.
3. I've been feeling sort of stressed about being behind on fandom things, so I sat down and made A Plan, and if I stick to it, I'll be caught up on all my obligations by Friday.
4. I'll be back home again tomorrow, and I'll be glad to see my cats again. Also, Tuesdays are Knitting Afternoons! I have a friend that I'm teaching to knit, and every Tuesday we hang out and knit for a while and watch movies. It's my favorite afternoon of the week.

I like your list of things, and I hope the rest of it straightens itself out soon. ::hugs::

Yes, focusing on the positive is such a simple thing and yet it is so hard to do at times! Whenever I stop to think of positive things I feel this whole weight lift from me and life doesn't seem too bad at all, but it's too easy to slip back into the negative - especially if I'm worrying about something.

Your list of things sounds great. I love the sound of your Tuesday afternoons. Learning to knit is something I'd love to do one of these days. Unfortunately my mum isn't a sewer at all, so I didn't get any skills passed down, and a couple of half-arsed efforts to teach myself didn't go that well. I will have to hunt down a knitting friend to help me one of these days.

Well done on making A Plan too. I have a fic due at the end of April and I know how it starts and how it ends but I'm damned if I know what happens in the middle. So far my planning sessions have been done while cycling somewhere so I haven't got anything written down!

Thanks for commenting. I really liked hearing about other peoples' nice things.
