Assuming that Obama becomes the presumptive nominee-elect next week, then you had best prepare yourself for much, much worse from here to November. Those Swift Boat Bozos and their ilk are going to bury the nation with a mud-slinging campaign the likes of which we have never seen. They are going to come at this guy with a million tons of innuendo, smears and lies on racial, religious, sexual and chauvanistic themes, and anything else they can think of. They say patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. These people will make that their first, not their last, refuge. I anticipate ugliness on an apocalytic scale, such as to curl your toes. Hang on to your hat. This is going to be truly nasty.

Yes, this year's Water Festival climaxes on November 12 and 13. I have scheduled our annual Water Fest Party for Wednesday the 12th, and this year I will take that whole week off from work. An Illinois contingent -- Dad, Steve and their respective gal-pals -- should be arriving on Sunday the 9th or Monday the 10th. On Friday the 13th, having had a day to recover from the madness on Wednesday, we will all head up to Siem Reap for a two or three day tour of Angkor Wat. You absolutely can't come this far and not go the extra 150 kilometers to see Angkor, so plan to come with us for that. I think we will drive up to the temples, rather than fly, since that will give you a chance to see a little bit of life in the countryside here. I strongly suggest that you nail down an airline booking at the earliest opportunity, because there will be heavy demand for that date slot.
