Yes, this year's Water Festival climaxes on November 12 and 13. I have scheduled our annual Water Fest Party for Wednesday the 12th, and this year I will take that whole week off from work. An Illinois contingent -- Dad, Steve and their respective gal-pals -- should be arriving on Sunday the 9th or Monday the 10th. On Friday the 13th, having had a day to recover from the madness on Wednesday, we will all head up to Siem Reap for a two or three day tour of Angkor Wat. You absolutely can't come this far and not go the extra 150 kilometers to see Angkor, so plan to come with us for that. I think we will drive up to the temples, rather than fly, since that will give you a chance to see a little bit of life in the countryside here. I strongly suggest that you nail down an airline booking at the earliest opportunity, because there will be heavy demand for that date slot. I would also recommend getting here at least a couple of days before the party, because, well, you'll see when you get here. Things get pretty insane when three million peasants show up from the provinces and camp out in your front yard. Let me know as soon as you've got your arrival and departure dates, and I will book you guys into a hotel across the street, where the Illinois contingent will also be staying. Also note that if it is convenient for your schedule, it is possible to depart internationally from Siem Reap, rather than coming back to Phnom Penh after the temple tour. Part of the Illinois contingent is going to head for Africa or some such exotic destination from Siem Reap. It is fantastic that you are going to come! Since you had been quiet on this for some time, I thought that idea had fallen by the wayside. :)

Is there still room for us at your place?

You bet! You were the first to stake a claim on that space, and your claim still stands. I do however want to give you a realistic picture of what you would be getting into with our erstwhile "guest room." It is actually Mychelle's office, and it does not offer much in the way of what you could call privacy. It is separated from our bedroom and the living room by those Japanese-style wood and glass doors. It is also right at the front of our east-facing apartment, so the sun floods the room at dawn. Noise-wise, it is not particularly quiet, since we are smack in the middle of the tourist district, with everything that implies in terms of sonic pollution. And the bed is actually a foam matress on the floor, big enough for two people only if they are real good friends who like to be locked in a permanent snuggle -- which might actually sound good to you! But if none of that bothers you, then by all means, go for it. It would be great to have you so close at hand!

None of that sounds too scary.

Well then, you just rented yourself a room, and at a highly affordable price, I might add!
