I am so honored and surprised to be Hawthorn and Vine’s Featured Member for April 2013! Thank you so much to those who nominated and voted for me. Hawthorn and Vine is a truly wonderful community of readers, artists, writers and Dramione fans - so this is just incredible.

So then, a bit about me and my writing... )

No questions, but wanted to agree with the favourite character to write part. Because, let's face it...

Yeah, Draco's a big jerk, but he's OUR big jerk. (HP_Darkarts actually has their Draco Character Study post out now. There's such a huge gulf between canon and fanon Draco that it's hard to know where to start).

To quote Sheldon Cooper... According to quantum superposition if there various accounts, one must be true. ;P

I probably did, too - because canon Draco is a bigot, a spoiled mama's boy, a bully, a coward and a failure. Not too sexy.
"If there are various accounts, one must be true." I think I've chosen my truth, except for a few experiments with the "real" Draco in dark fic.

Also you look like a Dark!Tonks in that picture, all mean and moody - love it :)
Oh and I have the same problem with food shopping. I've actually banned myself from going food shopping when hungry - I'll buy all sorts of things that I don't need!

Food: the problem isn't even in the grocery store - it's take-out and eating out at lunch. That money really could be better spent.

I am SO pleased for you and proud that you've been named Featured Member! You rock and totally deserve this honor, babe. :)
I think you should write a Lucius story where everyone ELSE in his family is either dead or in Azkaban and see how long it takes him to descend into madness. Or at least tangled hair.
Question re: avoiding cliches - First of all, YES. The whole "Hermione biting her lip thing'/Draco Drawling/Draco leaning against the doorframe" blah blah blah. Good for you to try to avoid those overused mannerisms. My question: I find myself using them at times and it irks me when I realize I've done it. What are your thoughts on pulling a George Lucas on one's own story and going back to fix/remove things like that?

... Sorry. Had to get that out of my system.

this isn't a writing question, but i'm just curious to know: what are your top three places that you want to visit when you have the money?
congrats again! a very well-deserved recognition!

I always like hearing about those who enter the fandom 'late' (relative to the books and movie releases, anyway). And this may be too personal of a question, so don't feel compelled to answer, but what do you think changed that made the Potter series hit home in a way it hadn't before?
'To me, “beautiful” writing is about the link between language and emotion - when the words a writer chooses create images which make her story moving, powerful and memorable.' - Too true, and a beautiful thought! Thank you for that!
Re: HP Darkarts - Hmmmm, you have me intrigued! So here's my shot at a guess. One of the villains I've found most interesting is Fenrir Greyback. Evil? Clearly. But why? What made him that way? And why the focus on children? Is it just because they're easy targets, or is it something else? There's a tantalizing back-story there, I just know it!
Am I close? Am I close? Am I, am I, am I??
