[for Jane]

With few battles to fight and hunting hardly as time consuming as he might wish, Thor has turned his energies towards construction. Though the building crew had certainly did a fine job on the hut he appropriated shortly upon his arrival, it seemed too small, now, with Loki under the same roof; they were Princes of Asgard, and they needed ( Read more... )

For normal people, sweating is usually not a pleasant experience. When Jane sweats, she gets sticky and nasty and she smells. When Thor sweats, he looks like the cover of a romance novel. How is that remotely fair?

She stops behind him in her shorts and t-shirt and admires the archway. "Wow, that's…really impressive, actually," she admits. He's capable of so much more than she's ever seen, she knows that. But he's still a prince, a god, and it wasn't so long ago that he was a spoiled brat, too. Manual labor doesn't normally fall under the purview of royalty, as far as she knows.

"It is, isn't it?" says Thor, a bit breathless from the exertion, certainly, but mostly just content to be doing something with his hands, and proving adept at the task. Magic would make the process easier, of course, but though he is not a beggar, he can't afford to be too particular with his methods, otherwise nothing would get done.

"The building crew have done a fine job with the other dwellings in this realm, but I thought I would take this task upon myself."

Careful of the bits of lumber littering the area, Jane steps over to the archway and pauses beneath it so that she can peer along the arc with a critical eye. She's no carpenter, but it looks pretty damned good.

"I guess this means you're expanding to accommodate your brother," she says, and drops her gaze to Thor again as she braces a hand against the door frame. Casual though her tone might be, it's obvious enough by her expression how dubious she finds this idea. On the one hand, it's definitely not a bad idea for Loki to stay close where Thor can keep an eye on him, but on the other…he is Loki. She'd really been hoping he'd move out.

"...yes," says Thor, his smile fading somewhat around the edges. Watching Jane for a moment, he turns away, moving to take a seat upon a large rock. Her reaction is, in a word, unsurprising, and for good reason. He loves his brother more than anything, but had Thor his way, Loki would have no contact with Jane for the rest of both their days, on this island and off, the threat Loki uttered all those months ago with such spite still lingering in the back of Thor's mind to this day.

When it comes to Jane, he simply does not trust his brother.

"Loki is clever. He needs looking after."
