Tess has barely been back in Kansas when her attention gets pulled in a hundred directions at once. It isn't a while until she realizes she's forgotten one very important thing: Lena's lost barette, probably somewhere at the Kent Farm

Clark stops putting the knife block back in order to look over at Tess. "You've said those things to her before. What changed this time?"

Tess glances over at him like he's insane. "Like I'm supposed to be keeping track of her psychotic moods?"

He sighs. "I'll talk to her or Oliver tomorrow to get her side."

"Whatever." She looks back at the counter. "If they're gone I should go, too."

When it doesn't seem like Tess will be going anywhere for a while, Clark makes a cup of tea and brings it out to the porch, sitting down next to her and holding it out to her.

She takes it, wordlessly, and then just cradles it in her hands. It might be a little too hot, but she doesn't seem to notice, or care.

"Hey," he says quietly, cautiously putting a hand on her back. "What's going on?"

"I just got-- felt dizzy for a minute," she shrugs half-heartedly. "I'll be fine in just a second."

Clark drops his hand and stares at her. He's not looking at her the bruise or even any part of her neck - he's just staring at her face.

"He's a vampire?" Even growing up in Smallville and being an alien couldn't have prepared him to hear that.

"It's a virus, really," Tess half explains, too tired to do into the details. "He takes medication for it."

He barely acknowledges that part of her explanation, pulling her closer again.

"How much blood did he take? Should I bring you to a doctor?"

"It wasn't really that much and no," she says firmly, pushing his hands away. "No more doctors."
