When it doesn't seem like Tess will be going anywhere for a while, Clark makes a cup of tea and brings it out to the porch, sitting down next to her and holding it out to her.

She takes it, wordlessly, and then just cradles it in her hands. It might be a little too hot, but she doesn't seem to notice, or care.

Clark drops his hand and stares at her. He's not looking at her the bruise or even any part of her neck - he's just staring at her face.

"He's a vampire?" Even growing up in Smallville and being an alien couldn't have prepared him to hear that.

"How much blood did he take? Should I bring you to a doctor?"
