I totally freaked out last night when I watched *wah* But yeah - if they don't bring Dean back at some point next season - I'd say that will be the end of Supernatural. Which would suck. Another though on where Dean is - purgatory.
I think the reason why they showed Dean in hell or wherever he is to tell the viewers that he isn't gone. I'm sure Dean will be back, otherwise you're right there's really no show.
I didn't think of purgatory, but it would be interesting to find out what that would mean for Dean and how he ended up there instead of hell.
And I'm right there with you... I can't wait for S4, I need to find spoilers already! :D
