Out of all of Margaret Atwood's books, I would have gone for The Handmaid's Tale and Oryx and Crake first.

Oh, and "Dexter"? Is very, very, very good. As in right up there with "Pushing Daisies" for me, and I've only seen the first disc of the first season (4 eps). Although I think the opening credits might turn me veggie. Or make me ravenous for blood oranges. Both!

What's also good is Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer was nose porn, actual porn (albeit softcore; it was still the entire town of Grasse, including the bishop, engaged in an orgy in the square), costume porn and a drop of zombie flick all in one.

It was Very Fucking Disturbing.
