First bit here is on one character that is hated by some people due to his sexual preferences, and then there's a list of the other characters that are hated that I love... ^^;
I'd completely forgot about the Usopp bashing. That's just ridiculous. Usopp is adorable and totally sweet. How can he be interrupting the yaoi that isn't there? He likes Kaya.
As for the Jakotsu thing. I remember when I came across that site and gave you the link. I was so appalled it upset me for hours afterwards. It was, like you said... not only blatantly prejudiced, but an insult to InuYasha/Kagome.
Jakotsu is such an awesome character. He's cute, kick ass, amusing, and rather endearing. If he's such a bastard for being homosexual, why was the last scene of his life animated so poignantly? We're supposed to be sad for him, not hate him.
Anime is full of homosexual characters that are some of the most beloved in their respective series-- -as an anime fan, you should be used to such characters, but for some reason some fans can't handle poor Jakotsu.
I'll admit I haven't seen much of Inu Yasha, and not nearly enough to know who Jakotsu is, but, that's so ridiculous bashing him because of that!
I've heard of alot of Miroku/Inu Yasha stuff, and Inu Yasha/Sesshomaru stuff.. So, it's alright to make an obviously obviously obviously straight ( and brothers, none the less! ) get it on, but when a character is /actually/ gay, it's EW OMG WTF IS WRONG WITH HIM!? ::Hate::
Oh, and hating him just because he's sadistic? What about Muraki from Yami no Matsuei!?
Yeah, strangely enough, the InuYasha yaoi fandom isn't that large compared to other series, but a lot of the fans (yaoi fangirls or not) love Jakotsu. He's such an endearing, yet tragic character- yet people hate him just because he's gay ><
And yeah, Muraki's got the sadist issue covered compared to Jakotsu. I mean, Jakotsu's a mercenary, so he doesn't have to go out of his way to cause other's to bleed. Muraki seems to enjoy doing so, yet people seem to like him okay ^^;;
Well like tailfluff said, that "InuYasha" yaoi fandom is not big over here. (For good reason I suppose, it's not all that sane except Bankotsu/Jakotsu.) It exists but it's similar to the "Rurouni Kenshin" yaoi fandom in size. I think a lot of that is because even many yaoi fangirls like the female characters of the series. ^^;
The very few IY yaoi fans there are seem to like Jakotsu.
Oh, and hating him just because he's sadistic? What about Muraki from Yami no Matsuei!?
Well Muraki is from a shounen-ai series, and that's something "InuYasha" is most definitely not. I don't think the people who have issues with Jakotsu would be able to watch "Yami No Matsuei," and they were really thrown for a loop when he appeared in a shounen adventure/romance like "InuYasha."
It's no excuse to hate him, but I think that's why it happened.
Yeah, but Jakotsu is "cute" He's very cute. He even gets to sparkle and say "kawaii!" But yet, people set in their own homophobic ways just can't seem to deal with that >
That is the shittiest shit I've ever been shitted. >__<
To hate someone for their sexuality? Good GOD! Have these freaks been taking lessons from Congress? Gaaaaah. Just because the show isn't labelled as shounen-ai, the poor buckoes get bashed. That's ridiculous! And, sadly enough, it happens in Gravitation, too---and her name, ladies and gents, is Ayaka. Because she's *straight*. Oh, no. Woe is me. Someone call the army, navy, and newspapers. Someone who's sexual preferences do not match the genre of the story. Gasp. Shock. Appal. Horror.[/bitchy sarcasm]
MEARGH.
And Usopp's funny. I only have the Shonen Jump manga - where the *hell* is my February issue, anyway? - but I happen to think he rocks in that alone.
Yeah, poor Ayaka is horribly bashed because heaven forbid should a male on the show like her >< I mean, I could understand the tension at first when you thought she *might* break up Yuki and Shuichi but after that blows over she's nothing but a loyal girlfriend to Hiroshi. It saddens me so to see her so often written out of the picture just because the fans want Hiroshi with K-san or Suguru or...whoever else they fancy that's male. The same thing happens to Judy Crawford, K-san's wife. She's also just ignored or written out of the picture >
Winchester, not Crawford. Gah, I had a horrible mental image of Crawford with Judy, wearing K's outfit, and it was... odd.... x_o
And Ayaka gets pissed at Shuichi for giving up on his and Yuki's relationship. She needs loads of Brownie Points for that. People do it to Mika, too, and they've tried to do it to Noriko, which makes me want to ram my head against a brick wall. Why can't they just accept everyone for who they are and...
... wait, sorry. Almost forgot that those kids haven't really matured to that point yet. -__-
I like Ayaka. She's nice. I mean, really. Shindou is screwing her fiance, I might remind you! But in the manga she accepts Shindou as a rival and doesn't immediately assume that he has no claim. Okay, so he had to publically declare his love to Yuki on stage to get her to accept him as her rival, but who can't love 'Yuki-chan' the bunny stuff animale.
Sakano-san will always be my favorite, though. Even if he does end up drowning himself in the toilet. I swear, Bad Luck is going to be the end of his little uptight self. ::Huggles Sakano.::
Bikky IS a brat, and he is trying to come between Dee and Ryo. But with REASON! Y'know how when a kid's single parent starts dating someone the kid gets pissy about it? That's how it is in FAKE. Ryo's like a father figure to Bikky, and Bikky is acting like a kid who's divorced father is dating someone. And he's worried Dee's going to hurt Ryo. He won't admit it out loud so much, but that's what his reasons are.
Yeah, that's what got me- Bikky's just that way because of the way life has treated him. He's already lost his parents once, and he doesn't want Ryo (as his new parent figure) to be hurt or leave him. It's completely natural, but the rabid yaoi fangirls just want him out of the way of Dee and Ryo's "true love"
