Isn't it like... RL canon that Taiwan doesn't like China?

Why is it always the female countries that get bashed? (Well, I know some of the male ones are too, but...)

Considering the real-world relationship between the two countries, Taiwan is a SAINT to China. They're shown to get along fairly well in their appearances together, even if she teases him. If it reflected the real state of things, she'd want absolutely nothing to do with him.

I can't believe people complain because a female character has a canon interest in a male character, even when said female character's personality is based around her being independent. She's a strong, hard-working character, and little things like the way she interacts with Japan make her, you know, human. I will say that it was more than once that she wanted to be acknowledged by him (there was a strip in her little section of volume 4), but I don't...think that makes her clingy? Especially when, you know, her entire world doesn't shatter around her when Japan doesn't sweep her into his arms and ride off into the sunset.

And oH MY GOD PEOPLE LIKE A SHIP I DON'T LIKE WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO. Sigh.

It kind of has to do with the Double Standard, if you ask me.

If a male character is clingy, it's percieved as cute or just a part of his personality.

If a female character is clingly, SHE REFLECTS BADLY ON ALL WOMEN EVAR AND SHOULD GO DIAF.

Yup! She's appeared in volume 4, as well as appearing in web-only strips. She's still a bit minor, though.
