What the heck, I did it anyway. Second PMMM defense of the day!

Oh, Puella Magi Madoka Magica fandom. What a way to take a show with lots of gray shades of morality and thought and try turning it into a flat caricature with only black or white.

And specially, what a way to be misogynistic and whiny.

Defending Hitomi Shizuki. HUGE spoilers )

character a vs. character b, crying "love interest = bitch", sexist bullshit, crying "feminine = bitch", puella magi madoka magica

For the oldest reason ever: she dares to have a crush on the same guy Sayaka loves.

I vote we call for a moratorium on Die For Our Ship. It's old, it's pointless, and it accomplishes nothing but making the fannits look stupid along with their precious holy OTP.

Here, have a WORD. Hitomi let Sayaka know her feelings for Kamijou instead of sneaking around behind her back. She even let Sayaka have a headstart if she wanted it. How the hell was she supposed to know what would happen? It's not like Sayaka could just say "I'm not worthy of him anymore because the wish I made to heal his arm tuned me into a lich."

And you are totally right. Sayaka would have turned into a witch sooner or later. And you know what I bet? If given the chance, I bet Hitomi would become a magical girl to save her.

Speaking of black and white morality, doesn't Sayaka see the world the same way?

heck, I have seen at least one manga on pixiv that follows somewhat along those lines.

I would guess. I'm fairly certain I've seen the translated version on Danbooru.

Homura does. Either with her or against her. Sayaka has too much expectations of herself

Ugh, there are actually people saying these things about her? Why am I surprised by the ways in which fandom continues to fail, IDEK. I liked that she actually told Sayaka about having feelings for him and her intentions to make them known. A lot of girls would've just cut out the other girl altogether and not even given their friendship a second thought. (especially with the way the two girls were kind of ignoring her lately- did she ever think they were really lesbians, or was that like, wishful thinking so she didn't feel bad about going after the dude ( ... )

Appearantly, Sayaka saw him play his violin as a child, so it seems she knew him for a long time.

Calling a woman a whore for being assertive in love isn't just stupid, it's rife with Unfortunate Implications.

While I find the canon pairing depressing, I do prefer her giving Sayaka a chance to her not giving her one at all. I do think she should have given a little more time then twenty-four hours though, like a week, because not everyone can garner the confidence to confess in that time frame. But then, that might actually ruin the plot for the series as Sayaka may have not gone off the deep end.

I can also sympathize with Hitomi because of the fact that she has to wonder if Kamijou had feelings for Sayaka and simply gave up on her and she is second rung, not to mention she has to deal with the thoughts about the fact that she is possibly responsible for Sayaka's disapearence/death, depending on which timeline one is taking about. No, she might not know about the Magical Girl stuff, but she did notice a change in her friends behavior after she talked to Sayaka.

The Hitomi-haters annoy me so much... I think she did the right thing by talking to Sayaka first. And she didn't steal Kamijo. I mean, we don't even know if he likes Sayaka or not.

If he had feelings for Sayaka, that is simply something the two of them are going to have to work out in their relationship.

I have mangaged to not see any Hitomi bashing yet, and it annoys me that there is bashing of her.

Think about it from her perspective, the friend who she cares about enough to hold off confessing to her crush has essentialy disappeared off the face of the earth as far as she knows.

Also, the symbolism of the Hitomi-like familiars in the earlier loop show that sayaka has respect for her (after all, the familiars represent a type of desire of the Magical girl from which the witch was born).

I came looking for this article because I was curious to find out if my worries about her being character bashed were true when I saw what I believe is three fanworks on the wiki for this Anime that I felt derogatizes her character. I mean, I don't like the canon pairing, but those pictures... they felt cruel. I'm also going to look for some comments about her simply because I like shaking my head and some of the off-beat things fans say about things.

I also know what you mean about looking at it from her perspective! She has to ask herself if she really came first for him and also ask if she was the reason behind Sayaka disapearing, due to the change in her friends personality right after she told her about her feelings. It is likely a good thing she doesn't know about the Magical Girl stuff.
